He looks legit. He's going to get more and more talk and hype from here on out. IIRC people were saying Rudy was as skinny or it gives you hope.

I confirm, he's not skinnier than Rudy at the same age. Rudy had a late growth spurt at 18 years old, and it seems that Victor did not grow much since 2019 : he's still 7'2 without shoes. He focuses on gaining weight, he gained 60 lbs since 2019, being 220 lbs now.
Physically Rudy was not able to play with pros until 19 years old, Victor is 17 and already dominating grown men in short stretches. He's even the top shotblocker in french league (1,6 per game), but he didn't play enough games to be qualified

First double-double with pros for Victor Wembanyama yesterday : 14pt 10rb 2blk 2stl in 27 minutes. He's already one of the most impactul player in French Elite

Thought Id give this guy a little bump. Just curious on some thoughts people have on this class (2023). Here are some of the more well known players off the top of my head.

Victor Wemanyama
Shaedon Sharpe
Scoot Henderson
Keyonte George
Dariq Whitehead
Derrick Lively
Amari Bailey
Emoni Batess

Does anyone have some sleepers they think might shoot up some draft boards?

Wagner and Cook imo best two recruits in next two classes, Scoot/George next yr other than Yama.

23 class guard class looks so much better than 22, obviously with Scoot/George/Shaedon/Bailey but also if guys like Hunter/Hickman go back to Zaga and go off next season

not sure im buying the top wings tho, we'll see.

Cook imo is the best wing prospect in the country but hes not until 24, Naasir Cunningham is up there too but still hella young.

Thompson twins for sure. Here's a thread on the notable ones for anyone who doesn't too much about this '23 class

This '23 class as a whole looks considerably better than '22

They always seem to be. People goo gaga over dudes until it is their draft year. Like nobody cares that Scoot has fell off after his first 3 games. Or how Wemby is not playing well in Europe.

So, we will see...

you're right, it's too early to say for sure, could be worse, could be better, but we can look @ types of players and how those archetypes project in today's NBA to get a decent idea overall.

we knew 2021 was gonna be a great draft for a while, for example.

This draft is fine. No reason to shade it. Four potential all stars and decent depth of good players in the lottery. Not a lot more you can ask for. Of course it won’t be as good as 21 but that was a special year.

Types of players are meaningless. There are plenty of great archetypes in 2022 who are not good enough or productive enough.

I also think that it might *seem* that 2023 is better because the footage we're watching of them - they're playing against HS kids age 14-17 (this early in the season not as many have turned 18). Whereas the kids in the 2022 draft class we're watching play now, they're playing mostly against dudes age 18-22. You even have g-league ignite and international dudes playing against 20-34 yr olds..

Makes it much harder to say 1 class is better than the other..

Any chance that John Butler from FSU is on draft radars by next year as a sophomore? Have to say I was impressed tonight. Fluid athlete with some ball skills/face up/passing ability at 7'1". Game saving block tonight. Obviously very skinny and will need some serious conditioning to play with the big boys but someone I got my eye on for sure.

Curious what his wingspan is, looks like he has some short arms and no shoulders at all. And doesnt really bring anything else to the game either than shooting at the moment.

But ya I cant disagree with what youre saying. Definitely moves very well for his size and that shot sure does look nice. Ya curious how he looks physically in the next year or 2. Agreed 100% that he is someone to definitely keep an eye on over the next year or 2.

imo, kyle filipowski appears to be a unique talent that belongs in that group.
