The evaluation process is impaired this year. How will that affect the draft?

The ban on physical meetings, and also the cancellation of March Madness, obviously deprive teams of a lot of techniques they use to assess prospects.

An obvious general conclusion is that there will likely be more drafting errors this year than there would have been things were normal. (Either that, or a lot of what teams do in prospect evaluation in March-June prospect evaluation is utterly wasted.)

But more specifically, what will happen? I'm guessing that character evaluations will be what really suffers, more than asssessments of on-court skills. But will that lead to a lot of head cases being drafted too high, or will it go the other way, with a "flight to safety" as teams stick with players who have sterling reputations?

And to be clear, character evaluations include but are not limited to:
-- How the guy treats the "little people".
-- How he responses to coaching.
-- What his motor appears to be.

Conditioning tests will obviously fall by the wayside. Ditto teams' favorite skills tests.

What else?

medicals will probably be the biggest issue, teams might be more wary of injuries because they can't test the players themselves, also not seeing the players in the combine environment with other top players and how they interact with each other is huge

Can players do a live-streamed pro day--just 2 or 3 players and a couple coaches?

Also, the league should have independent doctors or trainers do individual measurements to replace Combine measurements.

I saw that video workouts for single teams were banned. Are pro days done without team direction banned too?

If I were an agent, I'd want to run my player(s) through a workout and get them independently measured. It could be filmed or live-streamed. It's been a while since anyone has seen these players.

Even something basic like this---

Ship each player a tape measurer and ask them to measure themselves. I’m sure this will yield fun results.

Steve Kerr said he’s watching more draft prospect games than he ever has with this time off. It’s hard to watch college games for the main decision makers because they’re paying too close attention to the regular seasons. But now important decision makers will have a more personal look at these players. Also more time calling people to figure stuff out about players.
