He has an underrated iq imo and his floor is a lot higher than most scouts seem to think imo.

I'm a big fan of Oturu.

I said that a comparison for Okongwu is Elton Brand

I think a comparison for Oturu is Al Horford.

Jarrett Allen with a jumper.

Wouldn't that make Oturu a lottery talent? Jarret Allen with a jumper is a hell of a player. Seems a little much.

Oturu should be a lottery pick. He’s clearly still growing as a player and I see him more as a power forward than a center. He has super quick feet and will destroy guys in the post with his footspeed/size. He makes mistakes just because he’s still growing, but his upside is immense. I can see him as Siakam-ish. He can handle the ball and push it.

I agree with the fringe lottery ranking, not sold he will go that high . I do think he is underrated offensively going forward, but I don't see current Siakim or Ish lol

Ya, the Siakiam comparison is a head scratcher unless you mean a guy who blooms a bit later than one would expect.

I think he is surely a center at the next level. You want him by the hoop a lot on offense since he is such a natural elite offensive rebounder, but also has enough of a jumper to keep the defense honest. Playing him at PF would negate a lot of his best talents (Offensive rebounding, rim protecting).

FWIW, 14 of the top 15 offensive rebounders per game this season play almost exclusively center. The 15th is unicorn Zion. You play Oturu at PF, your taking away his biggest strength, his 12.0 ORB%.

Minnesota guy here, so I'm plenty familiar with this local talent. Wish he was just a little bit longer (taller). I see some similarities to Clint Capela, but with potential for greater offensive versatility. I do think he needs to stay at C, especially in today's NBA. He can shoot 3s a little, but shouldn't be hanging out there.

The one big red flag that stands out to me is that Oturu doesn't seem to play above the rim. Is that an accurate statement or have I overlooked that part of his game?

I mean, he's not Shaquille O'Neal or DeAndre Jordan, but he can still throw some down. It's probably more of an issue in tight spaces, which Oturu saw a lot of at Minnesota.

His size is the least of his problems, it's about the only thing he has going for him and how he's gotten by. He is not anywhere close to the athlete that Capela is (or was). He has a good motor, and will have to hope to make his career coming off bench as a bucket getter.

Fun fact that everyone should know about Oturu: His dad is 5'5".

Correct, he gets his height from his 6'1" mother.

Most mocks have Oturu going in the top 10 for a while now.

Can you provide evidence of this? I haven't seen any. Are you confusing Oturu with Okongwu? If not, please show me some examples of Oturu going top 10 in mocks.
