I'd be satisfied with any of Hayes, Okoro, or Avdija.

Darnell Mayberry on Deni...

It’s not just that Avdija could be the most talented prospect remaining on the board. He also could embody everything the league is now about. He’s long. He’s versatile. He’s smart. In an era of positionless basketball and units now mandating multiple playmakers, Avdija could thrive in Chicago as a secondary playmaker.

Tat assessment could be right, who knows it's only one opinion based on very little actual in person viewing.

But if more people/scouts come up with the same view I think that's why he's the best fit. The old regime had boxes they required to be checked to draft someone in round 1, 3 or 4 years at a winning college program, athletic, grew as a player from freshman to junior or senior, good character. Does that sound like Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Be Gordon, Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler? They strayed from that a few times, Derrick Rose, Tyrus Thomas, with great and poor results.

The new people are not bound by those same requirements but they have a roster built with FRPs with just those qualities. So they can afford to take a chance on a guy who doesn't fit the mold of the core group they have. Maybe he doesn't have the perfect shot, or hasn't shown the range, maybe he's not the athlete, maybe he's not as fast, but maybe he's the basketball player, knows how to use his skills to compliment his teammates, has the high BB IQ to be able to insert himself next to all the athletes for the betterment of the team.

Last year Zach Lavine led the Bulls in assists, Coby White is thought to be a combo guard which is half PG. It's not that the offense would have to run exclusively through Avdija as a point forward, it's that there would be three different players who could initiate play and the defense wouldn't be able to focus on stopping just one pass first PG.

Theres no such thing as a consensus esp if all the top 3 are gone. they will trade down if cant up.
