Yeah he lacks too much offense for me

If there's a Slo Mo Kyle Andersen-type player in this draft, it's probably Trendon Watford. I can't quite tell what Barnes is yet.

Watford is more similar to Saric than anything, weaker Saric kinda

Watford to Saric might be the worst comp i've ever seen on this board

If Scottie Barnes is not a lottery pick, I don't know who is.

Barnes reminds me of a more athletic version of Boris Diaw or Anthony Mason.

Boris Diaw in his early years before he got fat was an athletic freak. Well maybe not freak but he was super athletic. And even in his later years he still got the first step and cheeky quickness to get past his defenders.

he couldn't have chosen a worse school or coach to go play for so he did himself no favors with his development and draft image. I still see a Draymond type player who can bring up the ball on offense at 6'9" and defend 1-4 at a better than average level. Everything depends on his 3 just like it did with Green. When he was a good shooter he helped make GSW incredible.

Idk. It almost seems like FSU is a place that a combo forward could not really dominate but still get exposure, still be involved in the NCAA tourney, and still get drafted top 5 or so. Duke might not have been the place for a guy like that this year. Maybe Kentucky wasn’t the best spot this year.

Where should he have gone, or a couple schools that would have been right for him?

No, he was not. As a combo F, he was an OK athlete, maybe even an above average one, but far from super athletic.

He was one of the most versatile forwards ever, that was his super skill not athleticism.

Barnes is longer, and a better, more explosive leaper than Diaw.

Love Barnes. Do not want the Grizzlies to touch him in the draft.

Do guys really learn touch? Because Barnes clearly lacks it. I enjoy watching him play, and I understand the appeal of his size plus ball control and passing and defense, but dude is a bricklayer. Sure, he could be Draymond some day, but that’s just so rare that it’s hard to draft him on that potential.

A lotto pick, yeah, but late. A mistake in the top 8 for sure.

This guy's attitude is so wildly positive and competitive, he's the kinda guy i'd buy as having a drive to improve himself.

He could be the only player I'd want the Pacers to trade up for.

There a second Boris Diaw out there?

He's gonna be a better, more explosive leaper than that?

I think he's built like Kevon Looney, more explosive than that, with better playmaking.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

He looks like a spark plug ball handler / defender off the bench a la RHJ. Maybe with a lot of years of improvement he could become a full time point forward but he really needs to work on the skill part of his game first. Barnes isn't without talent but he's a project.
