What makes Cade better than him? Other than his shot

I'd say Cade's also a better athlete with a bigger frame. Add that to the big disparity in shooting ability and I think there's a considerable gap between them.

But purely in terms of facilitating? I think they're on a similar level.

He looks like a natural playing basketball. Like he was born with the gift, obviously not but that's how I'd describe watching him.

Giddey is very bad on D, outside of smarts which good to have but he has terrible movement skills on that end and neutral length

shot is wonky and he doesn't have the athletic chops to be an on-ball player

He is a really good linker prospect

Giddey isn't very bad on D. I've watched every minute. He's not an overall positive, either, because there are issues around match-ups and foot-speed, but he was very good last night and overall has been solid.

I don't think he needs great athletic chops to be an on-ball player. He's getting to the rim consistently due to great change of pace and deception, and he picks up good speed in transition.

0:51 in this clip he's 1 on 1 with an NBA level athlete in Deng Adel. Was it the best defensive possession in the world? No. But it's an example of him getting all the way to the hoop against good athletes.

Will he get in to the paint with similar ease in the NBA? Probably not. But he will be able to run your offense and find his spots to attack.

Needs to tweak the form - sure. But he went 2/3 from three again last night and is shooting 19/43 (41%) from three in his last 10 games.

Just a reminder that LaMelo went 25% from three his NBL season prior as well and is shooting 37.5% his rookie NBA season.

Giddey's not a great shooter, but he's not a non-shooter.

I don't have trouble with Giddey shooting, but % aren't all and he isn't a LaMelo level of shooter regardless of them, Ball changed his form mid season in Australia and that helped+had another level of touch, confidence and releases, trick shots, etc, it is not comparable

I disagree on Giddey's on ball potential, he isn't a primary prospect, not close, that is just not going to translate well, he is a linker which is fine and valuable too, esp if you are a 2-way player, he is big and smart so he won't be a total sieve but his D isn't good imo, just doesn't have enough in terms of movement skills, it's not even just foot speed, his gait is really short, needs a lot of steps to cover distance

The threshold to be an on-ball primary is way too high for him

I think we actually agree more than we disagree on this one Fish, I think we have similar observations with a different conclusion, and that's totally fine, I welcome your perspective on him and will consider it going forward

Every time I watch him, I tell myself I have him too low.

Giddey looks like a pure PG to me and a relatively high lottery pick. It's hard to imagine him being a bust when he's so skilled at 18 and a legit 6-8.

Atm I have him as the best PG prospect In this draft.

I haven’t watched EVERY game on twitch, but I have watched a full 4-5 and this is very far from the truth. Giddey is actually a really good defender that stays infront of his man, stays vertical, knows how to not foul, and plays really good team D.

No one will call him an elite on ball defender, but he’s a positive on that end much like a Tomas Satoransky has been in the NBA.

He falls asleep at times and he can't cover distance vs real athletes, his movement is disturbing, I like Giddey and I have him lotto, but he has shortcomings

Hoopshype interviewed him today and said he was 6'9 in shoes.

Isn't a "LaMelo level of shooter"? This is just laughable. Didn't you trash Melo and his shooting ability just a few months ago? All of the sudden your saying a prospect doesn't measure up to that level?

Ngl, the more your critical of Giddey, the more I like him as a prospect. Guys at 6-8/6-9 with that level of skill are literally bust proof outside of injuries or off court issues. I said it last year too about Melo. Skill outweighs everything else. You don't need to be an elite athlete if your 6-8 with long arms and possess a very high skill level.

I had Melo 1st by a mile and I was positive about his shooting and how he worked on his form over the season, so not sure what you are talking about, he also obviously had great touch and versatility with multiple releases, and tried difficult trick shots

Giddey has bad length, neutral to negative, so again not sure what you are talking about

Also I have Giddey top15-20, so selling me as critical is just asinine, I like him as a prospect, but he has his flaws, nothing wrong with putting them up there

I stand corrected regarding Melo. My apologies.

Just to clarify on the wingspan, he's -0.5 on his height, so yeah, just under neutral. Measuring in at 6'9 in shoes now.

I think the Jazz would be all over Giddey if they had a chance at him.

A lot of people over here enjoy comparing him to Ingles. Obviously big difference in shooting but there's some similarities there.

He is too low on your board. Should be in the conversation with the top 5 guys.

Now 22-49(45%) from 3 and 13-16(81%) from FT in his last 12 games.

Best passer in draft, elite shooter, success against pros at 18 years old, primary ball handler at 6’8.

Giddey is top 5.
