How can they avoid bpa’s for a guy that will be buried behind Wiggins, draymond, and klay?

A few years from now when they need primary options they’ll look to Wagner?

Wagner could be an option at 14. No way golden state can take him at 7. Jalen Johnson. Bouknight. Maybe Keon Johnson. Have to go off of a bpa list.

He won't be buried. He'll take minutes from guys like Bazemore, Oubre, and JTA. Remember the death lineup? It was Curry and 4 guys who could defend the perimeter.

He plays like a big wing in that style. He isn’t as athletic as Kirilinko IMO, closer to Batum.

Much better defender than Batum

Shane had zero athleticism. Is Franz that bad?

Man was just looking at AK-47 and at the age of 23 he was posting a 24.5 PER, 60 TS% with a 9.2 BPM

I had AK47 one year in fantasy and that guy was a blocking beast. Hes one of those players along with Dirk I stay away from with comps since he did so much

It really feels like the Kings gave Wagner a promise. He isn’t working out for most teams, and then Harrison Barnes tweets a picture of him and Wagner working out together.

Sounds like that was media guessing who the promise was from, most likely Pels as only team to work him out. All kings media saying Sac unlikely to give anyone promise as still looking to move the pick.

If Sac does pick at 9 (big if) Wagner makes a ton of sense.

Are they looking to move the pick? They are having a draft day party for the fans and their only other pick is #39.

I get his major selling point is two way ability but in the nba you have to be able to generate some looks for yourself. I had this issue with lonzo in college, he had really low FGAs and was pretty selective with them.

Yeah, but you have to look at the other perimeter players on that team:

Mike Smith - grad transfer senior
Eli Brooks - another senior
Isaiah Livers - yet another senior
Chaundee Brown - one more senior

All of them are very skilled offensive players who're 3+ years older than Franz. Plus, they happen to have Dickinson, Davis, and Johns, all of whom are high-percentage finishers inside. So I don't think there was ever a realistic pathway for Wagner to be a high-usage guy day in and day out...there were just way too many ballhandling/scoring options around him.

This creates a bit of a dilemma, because we don't know what Wagner would've looked like on a "normal" team where he would've been the clear primary ballhandler all the time. Basically the same situation as Suggs for Gonzaga, where he did show flashes of 1-on-1 creation ability, but overall his counting stats were fairly modest because he played on such a stacked team. Of course, that's also part of the fun of evaluating these guys.

Worst possible example to pick justifying your entire premise. Gonzaga? ? ?

PR teams don't get told what Front office are doing.

guess that depends on your definition of 'lockdown'...tho not really sure anyone called Franz a lockdown perimeter guy, but he does display + defensive IQ and a good enough mobility+size combo to at the very least be average on that end at some point.

this guy is getting thoroughly underrated at this point, not sure why, not sure how often you see 6-9 combo forwards that can legitimately score on 3 levels, pass the ball like Wagner, not be defensively liabilities, hit FTs at 80+% clips AND all while being under 20.

he's a perfect fit in today's NBA with a clear path to success while having a lot of the skills/tools teams covet (or should covet)...dunno, maybe because his big bro hasn't been good in the NBA or the last game in the tourney left a sour taste in people's mouth but if this guy drops out of the top10 he should be considered a steal.
