Vrenz Bleijenbergh -Telenet Giants Antwerp - 2021 NBA Draft

Post#1 » by MemphisX » Sun May 2, 2021 8:48 am

One of my favorite prospects in the 2021 NBA draft. Should definitely be a 1st rounder. Not sure how high he should be at this point.

6'10 with a supposed 7 foot wingspan. Grew up playing point guard. Really needs some more body development. Speaks English well.

What is your opinion on where he fits in the 2021 NBA Draft?

I like his game. Sleeper for sure. Can’t teach that size, movement and passing touch.

1st rounder. Who really knows with general managers. Could hit the lottery, could be taken in the twenties.

This youngster's English accent is pretty sketch for a 2000' baby born in Flanders Belgium, Antwerpen of all places. Must have played too much basketball, not studied hard in school, and not watched enough English media growing up.

But it is good to see another Dutch speaker in the league. Frank Ntilikina is the only native-Dutch speaker in the league, possibly the only Dutch speaker period.

I watched him play several times in the Belgian league. He reads the game very well and his vision is already elite. Really think Bleijenbergh would be a top 20 passer in the NBA the moment he gets drafted. His vision and passing is really intriguing.

Vrenz sometimes plays point guard because he can initiate the offense and get his teammates involved. Should work some more on his ballhandling and floor game but has already made strides in that regard.
Although his shooting form is a bit unorthodox he can shoot it from the outside. He is shooting 35 % on 5 attempts a game and sometimes makes them from NBA range. He moves his feet very well for a guy his size but needs to put on some more weight so he can deal with more physical wing players on defense.

I think Bleijenbergh would be a great fit with teamball oriented teams like the Jazz, Spurs, Celtics and Thunder. With his playmaking ability and improving shooting i think he can fullfill a Joe Ingles type role off the bench for a team. If he continues to improve his shooting he can have a long NBA career as a fringe starter or 7th-8th man off the bench.

He can have a defined role in the NBA as a 3+D player who can initiate some offense. Can't believe that some mock sites have Yves Pons as a second rounder but don't include Bleijenbergh. Imo he is at best a late 1st rounder and at worst a late 2nd rounder. Certainly a good value 2nd round pick.

Thanks for the insight. I like his game too. Would like my team to grab him. I like his vision and passing. He has a couple step back threes that should raise GM’s eyebrows.

I like what I see. If someone like Deni Avdija can go 9th, I don't see why this kid, who looks more talented, can't go similarly high.

I could see a team taking him in the first half of the first round and blow people’s minds.

One of those players who sky rockets once workout start, and everyone wonders why he wasn’t taken higher. Wouldn’t surprise me if a team took a chance on him in in the lottery.

He has skills and vision you just can’t teach.

Ntilikina is Wallonian, isnt he? Rwandan parents, moved to France at age 3 - are you sure he's a native Dutch speaker? I highly doubt it...

I think Bleijenbergh can go top 25.I think Avdija will figure it out and have a career like Saric. Solid player. Sucks for him that he ended up on te Wizards with two ball dominant players in Beal and Westbrook. I don't think Ntikilina speaks Dutch because he moved to France when he was 3 years old.

For some reason, I thought Ntilikina's mother was Fleming and father African. That's why I assumed he spoke Dutch. I swear when I was googling Dutch/Belgian players, I did read his mother was Belgian :banghead:

His parents are from Rwanda and he was born in Belgium. Belgium has a Flemish part (speaking Dutch) and a Wallonian part (speaking French). And there's whatever Brussels is, plus some German speaking parts.

Ntilikina was born in the Wallonian part.

Dat weet ik. Ik spreek Nederlands omdat ik ben opgegroeid in België.

Somebody is taking a shot with this kid. More I see the more I think he goes first round. The potential upside is to high to ignore.

Trying to to think of a rebuilding team with a recent tendency towards foreign players…hmm.
