Moody still BPA here for me so he'd get strong consideration here, but I think I'd go Jalen Johnson just based purely on possible high end outcome for him, Alpy also in consideration

Jalen Johnson just feels like a really nice fit for Sacramento. I think their long-term backcourt is Fox/Hali, and Johnson is the kind of modern power forward with a face up game and excellent defense that could really help them become a playoff team at long last. I kind of love a lineup of Fox-Haliburton-Barnes-Johnson-Holmes.

Jalen Johnson. IMO the BPA is either Jalen Johnson, Springer, Sengun or Giddey. All debatable in terms of who's better than who IMO (im not as high on Moody and Keon) plus Moody and Haliburton would give the kings 2 wings who are good shooters but not very good at creating off the bounce.

The only 2 untouchables for the Kings are Fox and Haliburton so that eliminates Giddey and Springer. Both Giddey and Springer are gonna want to play the 1, and so will Fox.

So it comes down to Sengun vs Jalen. I think the kings want to keep Holmes and I don't think holmes and sengun would be a good fit playing together. Jalen has the talent and he has great fit on this team. You build around Fox/Halibrton/Jalen as you're young core - I can see the 3 of them playing off each other well..

I actually like Moody for the Kings.
There is some merit for Jalen and Garuba too

Fox/Hali/Moody
Fox/Hali/Garuba
Fox/Hali/Johnson

PG/SG/SF or defensive PF

Is a very nice trio to build from long term. Garuba would fit well on the Kings. You guys need defense bad and Garuba will gobble a lot of weak points up.
I don’t say it a lot but can legit guard 1-5 though is undersized as small ball. Crazy motor, him and Fox would just wear teams down lol

I think your playmaking is fine with Fox/Hali.

Moody for me. Him/Hali/Fox is the makings of something special. Also dont mind Garuba here, but i also have no doubt Kings would ruin him.

Jalen Johnson is an easy no go for me. Kings very much need to rebuild that culture ground up and Johnson is just too much of a risk, even with that talent. Theyre not the kind of team that can roll the dice on him

I think Kings go Moody here. Jalen has attitude questions, Sengun has defensive questions both of which are problems for this Kings team. Moody has upside being so young and his median outcome is still valuable and fits. Garuba doesn’t have the two way or upside potential the Kings need.

Moody has the length to play the 3 in today’s game. He seems like a pretty damn good fit to pair alongside Fox/Hali.

I’m never shy to admit my complete lack of knowledge for euro guys. So if he is a legit big man prospect I won’t argue anyone saying him for this pick.

I’m not a fan of Jalen at this pick. I think to maximize Jalen you want him to play a point forward kind of role. Ideally he is your secondary ball handler. Sac has Fox and Hali already, so I’m not in love with the Jalen pick here.

So I’m all in with the Moody pick here. And open for the Alperen option as well if the guys that know euros think he is a legit top 10 draft big.

Agreed. Sac is not the place where I would take Jalen. I’ve said in other threads that I think Jalen skill wise is the 6th guy in this draft.

But if we’re being honest, Sac’s culture is just not where I want Jalen to go. He needs to go somewhere where his ego can be checked.

12-14 in this draft would be ideal scenarios for him. Spurs, Pacers, Warriors. You got Pop, Carlisle, then Curry/Green/Klay/Kerr.

All 3 places have coaches or players that can easily check Jalen’s ego. And that is exactly what he needs. He needs a place that can check his ego. Sac ain’t that place.

Jalen has top 5ish talent but man most if not all the potential ceiling is in between the ears injuries aside.

And I mean it’s pretty exhaustive with him which is abit disappointing but this is as old as the sun rising. Wont be the first and certainly won’t be the last.

Way better touted even prodigious talents across all sports have failed expectations because you can measure everything except the heart and mind.

Garuba at least if he doesn’t hit his potential won’t be from lack of effort, trying or work ethic.

Tre Mann

You want Jalen Johnson? Use your minimum contract and scoop some bigs out there. You dont use your lottery to get a role playing big

And watch the Hawks. You can’t have too many scoring guards in a team. Mann could possibly play that role Lou Will or Payne is playing for their team.

Garuba is a good fit here. Someone who can bring some defense right away. They need to at least make the play in game.

I doubt Sacramento is going to draft another player from Duke with attitude concerns. If Moody is still on the board here I think he'll be the guy.

I would be surprised if Sacramento picks at #9 barring a repeat of last year where one of the top 5 guys falls to them (which I guess would also count as a surprise).

I personally hope we trade out of the 9th pick, pick up two later in the first. The guys I like are a reach at 9 but i'd be cool taking anywhere 16-30. Give me Trey Murphy, JT Thor and Ayayi in this draft and I'm cool.

If we stayed at 9 though, I'd have to go with Moody and be pretty uninspired with the pick honestly.

would you do something like James Wiseman + #14 for #9 and Holmes?

Since I don't think we're going to be bringing Holmes back anyway, I'd do this. I think the franchise is looking to win as soon as possible though so this move isn't necessarily in that direction, you'd be banking pretty hard on Bagley and Wiseman both figuring it out but man if they did... Fox/Hali/Bagley/Wiseman could be a pretty special core but I think Bagley's time is coming to an end in Sac too, I think we'll shop a #9/Bagley package with possibly Buddy attached as well and see what kind of offers we can get.

Smells like 9 for 16 + 18, maybe w/ someone like Roby thrown in.
