i'd go Usman here for the Spurs, good fit for them defensively in the front court, only issue is if that are trying to get a more 'win now' player with Pop's career approaching its end...but other than that Usman is a natural fit/need mixed with BPA here.

I went with Ziaire here. The Spurs have a lot of good young players. Nobody that really projects to be great. Ziaire gives them a shot at a long term homerun. A player type they haven't really had since Sean Elliot and they can afford to keep him in the G-League all season. They also really need to let go of the rope and try to get a high draft pick in 2022.

I went Keon. If a team could take a fairly raw looking Kawhi and turn him into what he is, I'd want that team (and if I were that team I would) to draft Keon Johnson.

The Spurs have such a desperate need for shooting, I'm tempted to take Kispert here even though he isn't BPA. I think a knock-down shooter with size is justifiable due to rotational value. Unless you think Keon Johnson or Josh Giddey have All Star potential, I think you take Kispert here.

Not a fan of Giddey here. I know you don't draft for fit but I don't think he's a clear BPA guy either at 12. I can see the Spurs opt for an upside forward like Roko or Ziaire instead. Or possibly Kai too.

there is no such thing as 'clear BPA' 12 picks into the draft, at this point you have tiers of players, and within those tiers are players that are just better fits depending on the team.

i doubt SAS would have ONE player they like at this point, likely 5-6 from the same tier and from those will pick the best schematic and personnel fit.

I like Garuba here. If they do decide to go guard, Jaden Springer over Giddey, imo.

Of course but even those 'tiers' get thrown out the window on draft night. Teams "reach" for players all the time. If a guy that was valued highly is available later in the draft that would be BPA

yes, there are exceptions like players from top tiers dropping to ranges they were not supposed to be available, but that's not the usual case.

here is my big board (top 3 tiers) for example:

T1
1 Evan Mobley
2 Cade Cunningham

T2
3 Jalen Suggs
4 Jalen Green
5 Jonathan Kuminga

T3
6 Moses Moody
7 Jaden Springer
8 Jalen Johnson
9 Franz Wagner
10 Alperen Sengun
11 Scottie Barnes

12 Brandon Boston Jr.
13 Usman Garuba
14 Keon Johnson

bolded are players already picked...meaning right now at 12 there are 4 players I'd feel like are worthy of the pick...Usman, Keon, Springer, Boston.

within this tier, I would pick the best scheme/personnel fit wise...and that to me is Usman.

only way there is a BPA at this point is if someone from T2 drops to 12, or if for example I am picking 15th and Springer is still on the board, other than that most likely scenario San Antonio has a handful of players here they have identified with talent worthy of this pick and then would pick based on fit.

I voted Giddey. He's a talented, unselfish player. Spurs love the high bbiq passers. This kid can be utilized in a variety of roles. In addition Spurs have been great at developing players shooting which is Giddeys biggest weakness.

Feels like an upside pick that fits with their development strengths and team culture.

I could realistically see like 10 picks here though.

Pop is going to see Usman in less than two weeks playing versus USA and he is going to be in love with him he fit perfect with the Spurs as a franchise (well this kid fit well with every team) and can grow there in to an amazing two-way player. So I say Usman.

I feel like Giddey is quietly hoping to land in SA. The franchise has a history with Aussies, including Giddey’s recent mentor and Aussie GOAT Andrew Gaze. Mills already on the roster as a local Aussie mentor for Giddey.

Meanwhile he can become a playmaking wing who can switch matchups with Vassell and Murray to give him the easiest assignment on defense. On offense he becomes the guy who makes all the pieces work once he’s got a feel for them.

Spurs laughing as teams reach for players like Sengun and Wagner so per usual, someone great drops to them and in this scenario it's Mitchell

Giddey doesn't make sense here IMO. He is a PG. I don't see him as a "play making wing".

The spurs only real legit studs they are building around are murray and derozan, a PG and SG so Giddey just doesn't make sense.

I know I missed the cutoff here, but my vote is Roko. The spurs could use a stretch 4 and Roko IMO is the Best player available outside of Giddey, and Roko has an argument for being better than Giddey.
