Scheyer and Lucas were both looked at as the young superstar assistant coaches and the top tier recruiters in the country as well. There were some rumors about him using multiple outside job offers to keep asking for bigger pay and it started to wear thin with Duke. And once he got the big offer from Louisville Duke was basically like, sure go for it. Because no doubt they're paying more for Lucas than Louisville is for Smith. Pretty big haul for Duke to poach Lucas from UK.
