Shaedon Sharpe - Kentucky

probably deserves his own thread at this point, most likely scenario is that he declares for the 22 draft tbh. definitely adds a little spice to this top 5 imo that was lacking a bit outside Jabari for me.
based just off HS tape, how high does he go?

I think he’s a top 5 guy. I like Ivey a lot but him and Sharpe is a battle for me.

I’d take him #2 without much hesitation honestly. Really good combination of size, athleticism, and form on his shot.
In all honesty, I’d consider him #1

For reference, Sharpe's last RSCI rank:
ESPN: #1 in 2022, de-ranked
Rival: #1 in 2022, #3 in 2021 behind Chet, Paolo
247: #1 in 2022, #3 in 2021 behind Chet, Paolo
I would just hide for a semester, no point in lowering draft stock. Pretty much top 5 lock, top 2-3 if Chet/Paolo/Smith Jr crashes their workouts.

He's great but I don't think there's any way you can take him over Chet & Jabari just based off of HS tape alone. Would be a different story if Cal decided to play him
Regarding his vertical found a video that seems to somewhat back up his supposed 49 inch vertical. Regardless its insane

So besides him being a highly touted prospect what's his play style? Is he a PG or off guard? Comps.

Like I said in the other thread. Don’t get me wrong, the dude is extremely bouncy. But guys with freakish bounce don’t come close to a 49 inch vertical. LaVine is 46, Green was like 42, Zion was 43, Cassius Stanley (again not a huge name but freakish leaper) was 44. Anthony Edwards was 41.
I just don’t buy he’s a solid 3 inches higher than LaVine.

Yea I agree--Hard to tell what it actually is on the video. I don't think it matters much though imo he has elite athleticism already. Hopefully he plays this year

Seems like a more refined Jalen Green and really could go anywhere in the top half of the lottery. If he reclassifies that's a huge boost to 2022 and pulls it close to even with 2023.

If the team I rooted for was headed for the lottery, I would be very happy if he declares. He definitely should not play. Could easily be top 5 off of HS play with a chance to be #1.

Looks like definitely more of a 2-guard, w/ potential to play some at the 3 considering he's scoring inside over bigs, his head his up near the rim when he dunks and he has a 7'0" wingspan. He's listed on Kentucky's team website at 6'6", 200 lbs
Best fit is the 2, though.
This dude looks like a freak, he just makes it look so damn easy! Not going against terrible competition either - from the looks of it, he's going against some pretty legit prep school teams here:

LaVine. His game is further along than LaVine at the same time though. But ya pretty much a SG with fantastic athleticism and good form and touch with his jumper.

I'd take him pick 4.
He could be 1 but he hasn't shown what he can do in a college or professional league.

Neither did LeBron, Kobe, T-Mac or Garnett.

I agree, I think he should be in the discussion from pick 4 onwards, I just can't see a GM taking that kind of risk in the top 3

What difference would it be than taking a kid straight out of high school compared to a OAD? I mean he’s more prepared than the old straight out of high school prospect, he’s going to have 3-4 months training with an elite college school under his belt.

He reminds me of Vince Carter back in his Toronto days.
I still need to see more to have a better assessment, though.

Wiseman had played 3 College games totaling under 70 minutes before going 2nd so I doubt a GM will care about his lack of college play if they think he is good enough

Eh Wiseman seems like a good example of the risk of making a decision like that.
I think it depends on the GM but just using the Pistons as an example, there is decent amount of pressure on Troy Weaver to hit well in the next few years now that we won the lottery last year and got Cade.
If it was between someone like Banchero or Sharpe , I think he would take Banchero , not that I would necessarily agree, but it’s hard to tank an entire season and show a fan base you ended up with a high school player

Sharpe is now in a tough position.
If he does not play it can be viewed as a red flag and his stock could drop a bit. I mean a great player should be able to jump in and help out regardless of the amount of time practicing, so some weeks to get used to the team should be enough.
So if he doesn't play, he will really need to show up when he works out with the teams individually and actually workout as we know with top picks, they sometimes do not.
He could also play in Kentucky but if he does not perform that well, his stock might take an even bigger hit.
If he is truly not ready I would not play as he is likely going to go at least top 8 anyways.
As for going top 3, he needs to play and show up for Kentucky or really kill it on the pre draft team workouts in my opinion.
