Terquavion Smith

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Wed Feb 16, 2022 5:36 pm

Huh, surprised we don't already have a thread on him. Anyway, would be draftable anywhere after 20 right now, and very likely if he returns will be a Lottery pick and have a similar rise as Bouknight did last season. Maybe even a better prospect in the end. Shooting and creation upside. He's skinny but looks wiry strong to me with a frame that can add muscle in time.

Shouldn't he then already be considered a lottery prospect if he's very likely to be one next year? Or is this about where you think he will be drafted this year?

LMAO this is usually my question when people say this. Difference here is what I think vs what NBA folks think. If he produces like Bouknight next year he could move up to the Lottery. I wouldn't take him Lottery this year because he doesn't have that value, so there's no need to. Hell, he's not even in ESPN's Top 100, and odds are he probably won't even declare this season so it's a moot point. He does seem like a potential Lottery talent though.

Just watch the highlights from one game you see a ton of great **** going on. How many players shoot with their right hand but dunk (twice) with their left hand in a single game? Ridiculous.

I wish we could see him on a better team. He's so focused on by defenses so it's a bit hard to know how efficient he might be at the next level and to evaluate his creation ability (which I think is relatively good but not standout?).

You have to like the fact that he's been quite a bit better in ACC play than he was early in the season. Very intriguing prospect.

My favorite freshmen. The best bomber in the class and major chops defensively, despite the small frame. Major two-way upside.

What are we even doing here that this guy is not talked about as a consensus first round pick at this point?

IDK. he does look pretty small on film. he might be bigger than 160 lbs but not sure about 180..

also, he's listed on NC state website at 6'4". Does anyone really think he's 6'4"? Looks much closer to 6'3" to me...maybe even 6'2"

He's clearly bigger than Tyrell Terry.

Hoop Intellect had him at #28 in their latest mock video.

He reminds me a lot of Bones Hyland. A really good, if undersized, SG that is going to bomb away from three and rack up a ton of steals on the defensive end. He's going to be a really good two-way player at the next level.

Givony now has him at 39. Will probably be a late riser from here.

Ya, see alot of Bones in his game. Can see late FRP as a somewhat-NBA ready bench scorer.

Terquavion is gonna be a beast this season.

Just hope NC St has a good enough supporting cast for him, so that teams don't just blitz him, double him and key on him all game..

From some interviews I've seen, seems like he's really tight with Coach Keatts. I'm guessing that loyalty to Keatts is main reason he is staying at NC St - otherwise, you would have thought he'd transfer to a school with a better supporting cast to help hid draft stock.

Crazy that he was only 165 at the Combine. Hope he can get up to 175 at least this season. Really he needs to get to 185+ long term.
