Jay Wright Retires

Post#1 » by Duke4life831 » Thu Apr 21, 2022 3:32 am

Not so much draft related but close enough haha. Felt like this is pretty big news when it comes to college basketball. Jay Wright was a top 3 coach in college.

Is he retiring retiring (ie. he's not finding another job), or is he just looking for a different challenge (like say the NBA)?

Sorta a bummer. Loved Wright since the mid 2000s when Villanova was rolling out 4 guard lineups with Mike Nardi, Lowry, Allan Ray, and Randy Foye. Way ahead of his time in terms of playing small ball. Also one of the absolute GOAT coaches at getting players to buy in to a team identity where they played smart, hustled, and defended while balancing that by giving guys immense offensive freedom.

I hope he's retiring to enjoy the good life and not because he's battling cancer or something like that.

He’s young to retire. Didn’t even realize he was 60 he looks 10 years younger.

Good riddance, college coaches exploit these young men.

shocker, imo, one of the best coaches in the land and would've loved to see him get an opp in the pros.
