Torn between AJ and Dyson. Went with AJ because of his iso upside and shooting that can help right away

Dyson Daniels is probably #4-5 this year.

I like Daniels, Duren, Griffin, Benny, Sochan, Williams, Eason at this spot in rough order. Davis and Dieng don't belong in this group.

Regardless, these prospects are all pretty good and close right now, obviously their development will differ. A team is gonna draft a stud while another a bust; the former GM is gonna look like a dumbass while the former a genius.

They should go with Aussie Batum here - Dyson Daniels.

First option would be to trade down if possible. Say with Spurs @ 9+25?

If not, select Eason - who will be the best of this bunch.

I would be happy ecstatic with Daniels here. Love me a big player with PG potential, point forward is my favorite "type" of player, I would draft him over Murray no questions. Eason and Griffin have such a lower ceiling, I believe the questions about Easons "feel" for the game and am really skeptical of Griffins shooting motion. Players like Daniels run the league, players like Griffin and Eason as lucky to make it as role players. Maybe Daniels doesn't develop but I would rather bet on his archetype of player than the others. If Daniels is off the board I still probably go Mathurin over those two, who I have as end of lottery guys.

Ya, I really dont like AJ at 7. He is a low usage 3/D guy, dont see the upside. I would rank the 3:

1. Dyson

2. Eason

3. AJ

AJ's D is pretty questionable IMO.

why would the Spurs pay #25 to move from 9 to 7? don't see it happening.

Ya, I agree. I dont think he will be a bad defender, but I dont think he will be a lockdown type either. I actually think Mo Peterson is my favorite comparison.

Before people say Griffin is way bigger - Mo Pete 6'7, 218lbs - AJ Griffin 6'6 222lbs

They really like Daniels or Sochan?
The #25 is a small price to pay IF you have a very specific player targeted.

But they really need perimeter defense, and Daniels is THAT guy.

Yeah but Dame and Simons will be the starting backcourt. Not sure if you want him to be the fulltime starter next to them.

Yea it feels like Dame/Anfernee/Nassir Little will be the starters. Portland should draft a switchable PF type or take a gamble on Duren being a quality rim protector.

I'm guessing if they are tryna keep Dame happy and win now, they trade the pick. So this is a hard one.

Dyson seems like the most complete player available but that doesn't mean he'll end up the best.

Draft the guy for his career, not his rookie year.

exactly - people are way too shortsighted here imo. if the Blazers are only looking at the next 2-3 yr window, might as well just trade the pick, but if you're gonna make that pick at 7, you need to aim higher.

Don't mess with the Sochan.

Lockdown big wing defender is an immediately useful NBA skill. I rate this prospect because I think he showed a lot of activity on offence and even landed a 58% TS% if you cut out November. I think he has a chance to improve offensively because of his activity.

He reads the boards very well. I keep seeing modern Rodman with this guy. Maybe not all-time rebounding elite but certainly younger Pistons Rodman.
