And were you right or wrong about him in the 2020 draft?

No one knows for sure yet but the last time we saw him string together like 5 good games was when he was in highschool. A bit concerning for sure. Has missed so much developmental time it's going to be hard to get back on course

Yes and yes. Avoid prospects that avoid playing basketball.

Don't waste top 5 picks on low post bigs that aren't already top tier defenders.

"Athleticism" and "potential on defense" doesn't make a big worth taking that early. You don't take project bigs early.

So far I've been wrong. But he hasn't played an NBA game in over a year so its tough to declare anything yet. I will say, not looking good.

Jury is still out, but there are some warning signs.

He barely played, which is both damning but also an excuse to not write him out just yet. Very young, had no real chance to showcase himself, he is not a bust yet, and I doubt he will be a bust, I think he will be pretty good, good size, good athleticism, I think hes only a bust if he is injury plagued.

Bigs with lower body injuries don't typically turn out well. JoJo is an exception.

i had him 10th in his class so about what I expected other than just not being able to stay on the court, you just don't take single-level bigs in today's NBA that high, pretty massive mistake by Myers and co. this Warriors team could very well be trotting out Tyrese Haliburton right now in the finals with Steph/Klay but what's done is done.

he has some pretty big red flags for me, mentally he seems on the weaker side, has bad hands, not a great rebounder for his size/position, BBIQ in general seems highly questionable. we'll see what happens with him but if he ends up in Deandre Ayton tier we should consider that as a huge W and run. but that's probably the highest end outcome.

i will also add is that he's just a terrible fit for the Warriors, so there is a chance another team where ball/player movement is less emphasized can put him in better positions to succeed.

He's actually more agile and explosive than Deandre Ayton, but his mind processes the game 2 steps slower, so that agility and explosiveness is completely wasted. He's like the anti Nikola Jokic.

How great is GSW's FO that they are ahead in the Finals and have strong young prospects in Kuminga and Moody? Wiseman, at this point, is nothing but a nice surprise if he pans out. Well done GSW. Perhaps one of the biggest bust picks in years and it really doesn't matter.

Having said that, some team should take a cheap swing on him...Like GSW did with Wiggins - damn, they did it again!

that was an epic fail by Myers regardless, we could be trotting out Tyrese Haliburton right now next to Steph/Klay if I had my way in that draft.

GS would not be trotting out Hali right now next to Steph and Klay.

of course not. Bigs take longer to develop and he hasn't even been healthy to really even begin. It's very similar to Embiid's start to his career. He really needs to finally get healthy and playing though. Once Embiid did he hasn't looked back. I think Wiseman has similar talent. Putting it together is a whole other thing though. And I'm not sure the Warriors system is the best fit for him tbh but he was such a monster talent I can't fault them for taking him. Legit 7'1" guys with his athletism and stroke are very rare

Except Embiid looked amazing at Kansas and had he not got injured would have been the number one pick over Wiggins and Jabari. Wiseman hasn't looked good since High school.

In Embiids first 30-something games he put up 20-8-2-2.5 in 25 minutes a game on 58% TS.

Wiseman was about half as productive, less efficient and per impact stats about the most damaging guy in the league while playing off Steph freaking Curry.

Wild to say they have similar talent

these Wise to Embiid comps are so weird and absurd. Embiid is one of the best post scorers and technicians at the 5 we've seen, really one of the most well rounded and complete bigs ever. just insane that people casually compare Wiseman to him.

i mean, as a Warriors fan I wish that was true, but it just isnt.

I like to give rookies until the end of their rookie contact to make a decision, especially for big men. That means he has two more years (if I'm reading correctly including team options) before the B word gets thrown around
