Julian Phillips

He just comes off his best game of the season against USC and already seems to have the trust of his teammates and coaches on an otherwise senior-dominated team.

I thought he could be a really good prospect if he proves to be an elite shooter but funnily enough, he hasn't shot that many 3s and hasn't converted them yet. And yet he makes his presence felt. After 5 games he has taken 30 2PA, 9 3PA and 36 (!!!) FTA. That has been the biggest surprise for me. He cuts well and embraces contact, and he has all the markers of a good shooter. Once his 3s start falling more often (which I expect), he'll attract a lot of attention.

At worst, he looks like a solid role player in the NBA. He has good size and length (needs to fill out more, though), plays defense, and can easily be plugged in an off-ball role – slash, cut, spot up, move the ball. His upside depends on how his ball skills develop and if he can do some work off the dribble, but he looks like a lottery pick to me.

An excellent performance albeit against an outmatched opponent. His FTr continues to be insanely high. As long as his shooting % are low he'll likely fly under the radar a bit but he's a good shooter, so he really shouldn't. The fact that he finds a way to be this valuable on a good team as a Freshman despite – and not because of – his shooting % bodes incredibly well. He'll help an NBA team for a long time and poised to outperform his draft spot if he's picked somewhere in the mid-first round or even lower.

I don't think he's under anyone's radar tbh.

Well, I hardly see anyone talking about him – much less as a lottery or potential top 10 pick. To me that qualifies. It doesn't mean that people aren't aware that he exists.

probably one of the more underrated guys at this point, high baseline of skill+bbiq with some two-way potential in a decent wing sized package - I'd take him top20 and wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of GMs felt the same way.

Is he in or exploring. Kind of reminds of the UCLA prospect Peyton. Likely wows at the combine.

I don't really see it with him. I had him ranked fairly high coming into the season, in like the 20-30 range. But in the tennessee games I watched, he just didn't really do much. Kind of like Dillon Mitchell - both guys who were ranked pretty high by many coming out of HS but just didn't much much impact this season. Perhaps they're both just guys who need another year of development in college and perhaps they make some improvements next season and go higher in the 2024 draft. Both struggled with shooting or creating their own shot. Both were decent on defense but you need to do more than that. Nothing about either of their stats profiles stands out either..
