This dude is absolutely killing it so far. Almost went to Kentucky. Think we're looking at a potential first round pick here.

lol is Santa Clara gonna do it again? this guy was literally a nobody last year.

Watched him against UCF and the eye test wasn't as positive as the stats...

I have him top 10, think he is going to shock people once he is in the league.

I like him a lot too. He's moved into my top 20. His rise reminds me of Jalen Williams last year. Strange that they're both from Santa Clara.

It was Jalen's wingspan (7'2") that made him an extra exciting prospect though.

He reminds me of a combo of two Warriors players that have played very solid this year... Donte Divincenzo and Ty Jerome. Obviously higher usage since he's the star at Santa Clara, but his movements look identical to Donte only with less quickness/explosiveness. And his floater game and general effort and confidence are very similar to Ty Jerome.

Where he ends up? I think somewhere between the two, which would be very solid for a late 1st or 2nd round pick. He's high on my list for the Warriors to try and grab a 2nd rounder to get him (and eventually replace Donte who they won't be able to afford).

If you watch my video DDV is the guy I compared him to. Kerr would love this kid. Warriors don't have a second round pick and after the Rollins fiasco I doubt they buy one this year.

Will check out the video, but did see you mention DDV in the Warriors board I believe. That last sentence bums me out and its probably true lol.

In fact, I think you mentioned a similar thing with Wiseman potentially altering their decision on Lively.... which also would be unfortunate. Lively and Podz are the guys that actually fit the Warriors system.

DDV is a better athlete but Podz is a bit bigger. I didn’t think DDV came out of Villanova a great defender. I wouldn’t say Podz can’t defend either. Might be better than Moody tbh

how Moody isn't better in the NBA is just wild to me, loved that kid coming out, all the makings of at least a + 3/D guy as a baseline, but if footspeed is Moody's problem, not sure how it won't Podz issue too

You can get away with a lack of foot speed if you have vision and a handle. Moody has neither.

I honestly don't see much difference between him and Booker. I know, it sounds hyperbolic and ridiculous. But seriously, they have similar size, skills, demeanor and flaws. Neither are very athletic, long or play defense. But both are very adept at creating space with starts/stops and craftiness and both can score at all three levels. The only reason I don't have him as a lottery talent is because in order to develop he'd need to be drafted to a team that is essentially starting from scratch and just lets him play like the Suns did with Booker. You let this kid get 20 fga per game and I'm convinced he'd put up similar numbers to Booker and could have all-star upside down the road if you surrounded him with long defenders. But what are the odds of that happening? Most likely he'll be drafted and relegated to the G-League where he'll dominate and maybe down the road will get a cup of coffee, but if he doesn't go off, will be sent right back down. I admit, I loved Moody and feel the same about him but he barely plays and will need a change of scenery to ever get the chance. These types of prospects get the shaft imho since everyone is so concerned about measurements and ignore guys that are simply great basketball players. This is just a long-winded way of admitting I'm a coward for not ranking him as high as I feel his talent deserves which is late lottery to late teens. But the realistic side of my brain knows he'll be given almost no chance at an NBA career so why rank him so high?

Guys like DDV and Dereck White get plenty of love. I think Podz could carve out a nice role for himself.

I really like him, especially if he can improve his handle a little more to play as a point guard. Think he has the vision and passing ability to be a point guard in the league.

Derrick White? Offensively, sure there's some similarities. But Derrick White is likely going to make 1st team all-defense this season. He's been one of the best guard defenders in the league for a few years now.

Defense is a weakness for Podzkiemski right now. He often times struggled to defend WCC players. In the NBA, the players are bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic. It could be rough for him on that end of the floor.

Both got by on skill in college, but their below average athleticism was/will be their undoing. He had 1 dunk in a halfcourt setting all year playing against meh competition.

I just can't ignore that Podz wasn't a top 50 recruit, struggled to get on the court at Illinois and then dominated in an overall bad conference outside of St.Mary and Gonzaga.

If Jalen Williams didn't exist and him getting to piggyback off his success we probably wouldn't really be discussing him.

i mean we just don't have enough intel on this guy to formulate any real opinion, the risk of him just being a one-off non-RSCI guy who just had a crazy productive year in a non P5 is real...or maybe something clicked with the guy and it's legit.

but there are no outlier tools, traits or skills here tho that make you feel comfortable, I guess he's a great rebounder for a guard but that's not what's gonna keep him on the court in the NBA. maybe we'll see more in off season workouts or combine drills.
