Bilal Coulibaly

This guy needs his own thread.

For a height, I'm seeing some sites list him at 6'6", others at 6'7". Wingspan I'm seeing anywhere between 7'1" and 7'3.

Doesn't turn 19 till July.

On the season shooting 35% from 3 but in his last 10 games he's 9/17 from 3 (53%).

And he does stuff like this:

And this:

ESPN ranked him as a top 10 pick for 2024. But if he declares this year, he's likely a 2nd round draft and stash, with the slight chance that he sneaks into the late 1st round.

Could end up being a huge steal though if someone nags him this year outside of the top 20.

I still have him as a 2nd rounder at the moment. But we could end up with 4 French dudes in the 1st round (Wemby, Cissoko, Rupert, Coulibaly

Reminds me of a 6'7 Melton.

Stylistically I see a higher ceiling Jal Williams. Seems to have more pop vertically and horizontally. Can he dribble, pass and shoot on a decent level in the NBA is my concern.

I want to see if he is willing to go through process like Williams did and get his respect from the scouts. My man took on all challenges for that lotto selection.

This is my target for the Kings in the late first. I like the tape I've seen of him so hopefully he declares this year and we grab him wherever in the 20s we land.

Wouldn't be mad at that either but I like Bilal's potential as a Mikal Bridges type guy, defensively, for us.

Hard to not put this guy in the top 40 - if not higher after checking this out:

If he's projected top 10 next year then why should he be a 2nd rounder this year? If he decides to declare, a lot of teams should have him on their radar with their FRP.

Because being a projected top 10 pick for a draft that doesn't happen for another 15 months means pretty much nothing.

Unless he wants to be the next jaden Hardy, Patrick Baldwin Jr, Caleb Houstan, JD Davison or Peyton Watson.

Does that mean he definitely stays in the draft this year? Of course not. He could decide that instead of doing in the 30-40 range this year, he'd rather go back to Metro 92 for another year, have an even better season with another year of development (and more of a role on the team with Wemby in the NBA) and possibly go lottery - or even top 10 next year. That's certainly possible.

But I'm just letting you know why those 2024 draft projects don't mean a whole heck of a lot when it's this early.

If Sac goes wing at 24 this kid is the upside play.

Frank Ntilikina has similar measurements, and he's actually very good defensively, but he's unplayable due to offense.

Bilal projects to be fantastic on both ends, unlike Frank.

Ntilikina in 2016-2017: 5.7 ppg in 19.1 mpg on 44.9% from the field
Coulibaly in 2023-2023: 11.09 ppg in 23.4 mpg on 52.6% from the field

Yeah but it's looking more and more likely he's off the board by 24.

I can see why.

Far from unplayable. Frank was a slow first-step moving on-ball PG who lacked elite handles and played soft. I think the only thing they have in common is their lack of shooting ability. Not really seeing the other parallels here. Different players with different games.

I'm the furthest thing from scout, so I'm not making statements on their career trajectory, but the parallels are much bigger than you're trying to draw, they have same size, both are defensive specialist, and both struggle shooting the ball.
Other things that limit Frank are like you said, loose handle, but also lack of any resemblance of shot around the rim, he simply can't finish layups, which makes him a total non-factor on dribble drive.

Frank was suppose to be a lead guard. Bilal projects more to Jalen Williams for me. His frame separates him from most prospects.

I think he's the value-pick Thompson twin of this draft. He's got some on-ball creation ability as well, though that's not his role with Met. 92. I think the Jazz are in on him, since he has the same agent as Rudy Gobert. He could draw comps to all kinds of athletic wings, from Wiggins to Exum.

If you go back and watch tape of Frank and then watch Coulibaly you can't honestly tell me you see them as similar. Coulibaly is on a completely different level physically and athletically which makes all the difference.
