Who gets to the rim well?

Which NCAA prospects get to the rim?Solid article about the college prospects in this draft and who's got the juice to attack the basket. Pressuring the rim is such a key skill to be a difference-maker in the NBA.

The appeal of Whitmore is pretty obvious, and the contrast with Walker is pretty notable too. Bufkin and Black also impress IMO. Every stat I look at makes Miller look underwhelming relative to his hype.

interesting, for a guy who is known as a shooter to be in the top third in terms of getting to the rim, seems like that should raise his profile, if anything.

Top third of this class doesn't necessarily mean his number is all that impressive. With his shooting, apparently he wasn't known as a big shooter as a recruit, so I'm suspicious that he isn't as good as his results this season say he is. Then his passing numbers aren't all that impressive either, and his steal and block numbers are kinda meh too. All adds up to a good prospect still, but he doesn't scream big star at me the way I expected him to.

Keep in mind Dean did not take getting to the line into account. Most fouls occur around the rim on drives and such.

people still underrate Whitmore's speed/power + handle, the guy is a mismatch nightmare with NBA spacing, he'll get to the rim almost at will at the next level, he's gonna be too big/strong for the smaller wings and guards, and too fast and explosive for the forwards and bigs.
only question is what he's going to do when he gets there and can't finish

Just gonna state this again, Whitmore is basically a wing version of Boogie. A bit of a blackhole right now but the talent and physicality and youth together makes him a top prospect. It's hard to see more than 5-6 prospects better than him in terms of outcome expectation.

also this rim rate is exactly why i dropped Walker from my top 10 (12th now)...just doesn't play with the force that he should've been playing with his body/athletic profile. there is no way in hell a guy like Podz should be in the top 10 but not Jarace Walker.

Boogie was 290 pounds, lol.
Whitmore is still just a SG and you have to wonder what's going to happen when he tries to score through true NBA centers.

He finished pretty well against the rim, question is more can you count on him doing anything else. The jumper is a bit shaky and I don't remember any prospect who passed the ball as little as he does ever succeeding.

Whitmore is 232 pounds which would put him in the top ~120 of the NBA in weight. But when you sort for players who under 6-7 he is 12th. A lot of the players above him aren't great athletes. I think he is going to be able to overpower a lot of NBA defenders, but to take advantage of that his processing of the game will have to improve.

wasn't cam one of the better finishers at the rim in the draft? i thought i saw a stat somewhere on that.

yes, I mean when he can't finish, will his vision/playmaking develop enough to take advantage of help defenders closing in on him @ rim.

I'm pretty sure Cam has said he models his game after Miles Bridges. I think that is a great comp, just not sure it's a playoff type of player though.
