Seneca Knight - Most Underrated Player in the 23 Draft Class

Post#1 » by jman3134 » Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:39 pm

While studying prospects to invite for TBT (yes he was extended an invite), Knight's tape really popped for me. While his numbers are not eye popping, he can defend multiple positions, he has a really good handle, he can shoot it. He is about as versatile as they come. I imagine he is going to earn a two way right off the bat. If not, he is someone to seriously look out for as a guy that could emerge from the G League. With all that said, if he has been killing these draft workouts as much as I think he has, he might end up being selected tonight.

i'm a byu fan. he is not an nba prospect. hell, he probably shouldn't have started at byu and byu sucked when he was here. unless he became a completely different player at illinois state, he's not even a g league prospect.

i should mention, he seemed like a great dude. the type of guy you want to root for. the basketball ability left a lot to be desired, however.

It is funny though. Like if you look at this size and stats, he could be as much of a guy as some of these other guys people are hyping up like a Ben Sheppard or Seth Lundy.

granted he's doing it at byu and illinois state while lundy is doing it in the big ten

sheppard was quite a bit more productive than knight.

both were better three point shooters on double the attempts too.

that said, point taken. it was fun to see seneca improve so much this past season. at byu, he averged 7 ppg on 30% 3pt, so he was obviously a different player.

Think he was being sarcastic. He isn't Sheppard Lundy level atm. Hence, the commentary on a two way. Both those guys will be drafted and have defined roles. Seneca can play, but I'm not sure that the analytics tell that story. Haven't dug into him there. Just tape.

There's a gap between projected 2nd round picks who could have 1st round impacts and a guy who wasn't invited to the PIT, who could land a two way off draft workouts. What you believe to be the most "underrated" is a relative determination.
