As of July 15th, 2023, my answer is... I don't know. Gun to my head, I think it will be one of the G-League ignite guys (Holland or Buzelis).

I’d go with Mara. I was hoping Matas or someone would’ve taken a big step last year to really separate themselves from the pack but that didn’t happen.

But I wouldn’t be shocked if some random dude plays well and takes over the #1 pick. Like I wouldn’t be shocked if someone like Omaha Biliew has a surprisingly good shooting year he won’t be talked about as a possibility.

This draft is a perfect kind of draft for a long athletic wing to get hot and shoot up the draft boards.

Mara has superstar potential and that should be enough to go #1 in a bad draft. Unless he has a stinker of a year

Someone will breakout and whoever that is, is who I am choosing

Matas would be my pick for now, but like others it would be unsurprising if a player broke out, or he really disappointed, etc.

If Portland ends up with the #1 pick, they'll take someone with length for they already have
more guards than they need

Buzelis would be so nice for them if his skillset translates to the gleague.

Scoot
Sharpe
Buzelis

Two supreme athletes + lots of skill and length at the 2/3.

Some returning sophomore might come back with some bulk and bash up college ball to the point of skyrocketing or something.

This might sound like a long shot but I feel like Judah Mintz is going to take a huge step forward at Cuse this coming szn and vault himself into top 5 consideration and potentially top overall.

We'll see. This coming potential draft class feels as wide open as it's been since the Cavs randomly took Anthony Bennet 1st overall. Not saying it's a likely outcome but I think he's going to surprise a lot of people.

Agreed, and we could also see a dumbass GM drafting at 1 again.

My favorites for #1 overall: Clingan, Mara, Holland, Wagner and Matas. But there are maybe 5 more dudes who have a chance to breakout this season. Good draft to have ANY lottery pick, not a great season to have the #1 pick IMO.

like Clingan and the dude is a major troll on the court but no way he's in contention for #1, he's in the Edey/Kalkbrenner class.

You think all of these guys could be the #1 pick?

Way to go out on a limb there.
