I thought it would be worthwhile to have a Hoop Summit thread. Nike Hoop Summit is this week, culminating with the USA vs. World Team game on Saturday from Portland. Rosters are below.
Two of the World Team players, Ulrich Chomche and Melvin Ajinca, are draft-eligible this year, while USA has a stack of high-level prospects for the '25 draft, including: Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper and Tre Johnson.

The heights are in shoes IIRC so that's a bad measurement for Flagg.
Slams on the door on him being a center and means he has to be a wing (so he needs to be like a 25 PPG guy to be a star)

I'm not sure Flagg was ever really looked at as a 5. I think he's a 3/4. He has defensive upside both in the post and on the perimeter.

Big stakes for Ajinça !!!! Nolan Traoré is the futur PG for France, just signed pro (same team as Ajinça, St Quentin) he's gonna shine

Where are the US measurements? I only see a picture of the world team measurements.

This. He truly stood out cause of his defense first and foremost where he looked like a Kirilenko type of guy. He looks pretty versatile on offense, but being dominant on that end in the nba depends on a lot of factors.

They weren't posted anywhere as of yesterday. Should be today or tomorrow.

This is the first I've ever heard of anyone considering him at center.

For whatever reason, it makes me a lot more nervous when a guy mostly known for shot blocking cannot play center.
I was hoping he would grow into being a center.
Anyway, hopefully he improves his offense to play SF/PF at a 25+ PPG level.

yeah, it'll be the last too. It's an absurd premise. Trolling tbh

To me VJ Edgecombe takes the biggest hit here. Some places listed him as a 6'5 SG. Officially measures at 6'3 (with shoes) and only a 6'5 wingspan. When from looking as a SG with good size and elite athleticism, to a SG in a small PG body.

If he can score at an above average level, perhaps he will grade out as a Malik Monk type. I preface that with the understanding that Malik is an elite run/jump athlete.

Okay, so now the Hoop Summit is releasing a new set of measurements for the World Team players. Measurements are in shoes. Chomche is back to being 6'11.5". So that's good news. His wingspan is also back to 7'4".

That's a very good measurement for AJ.
6'7.5" to 6'8" most likely with a perfectly reasonable wingspan and still young enough to grow another inch.
AJ currently has the exact height and wingspan as Paul George at the NBA Draft Combine.

yeah, that seems about right. Don't be surprised if he's this year's Coulibaly and keeps rising steadily until becoming a lottery pick. I've liked what I've seen from him but need to see him on the floor with other NBA talents to commit and push him up my board.

If you go back and look at what Alonzo Mourning looked like at age 18, Chomche is in that ballpark.

The little footage I've seen of Chomche has made him look like he's five years away having a chance to contribute in the NBA.

He’s not known mostly for shot blocking though. He’s known for his absurd all-around defence, including on the perimeter. I get the feeling you’ve never seen Flagg play.
