Boogie Fland

Surprised there’s no thread for a guy who’s an obvious Lotto pick if not top 5. By my stats he’s top 5 currently. I am loving his movement and anticipation on defense! What a pleasant surprise. He’s a precocious 18-year old with possibly savant IQ. Skinny but a solid frame that can fill out. He is probably in the 5-10 range for me with potential to go higher.

He's really good at basketball but his tools are just... Not good.

What specifically are you concerned about?

very fun player, very Dilly like to me and I was very high on Dilly last year. risky drafting these smaller guys tho too high.
curious to see if the Calipari effect follows him to Arkansas.

Short, not that strong, short arms, doesn't seem that quick or explosive.
He has elite touch, BBIQ, and intangibles, but his tools are just not good at all.

If Fland learns how to shoot threes off the dribble, I guess I could compare him to... Middle of his career Mike Conley as a ceiling?

Pass on another tiny combo guard.

he such good overall player, if i were convinced he can shoot, i might forgive his size and take him fairly early. currently shooting 38% from three which is solid, but it just seems like that will continue to drop. he started off hot, but is 6 of his last 22.

I don't see a combo guard, I see a point guard who can score.

I do agree that he's closer to a PG than a CG. At the same time, I also believe that it's fair to question whether he'll ever be more than a back-up with his limitations.

This guy finished with a 5.1/1.4 AST/TO ratio.
I see a PG.

38% from the field and .261 FTr, this guy just doesn't have the tools to be very good in the NBA most likely.

To be fair to Fland, he played his last three games through an injury that required surgery and they hurt his efficiency. That said it was not great before.

Nick Smith Jr situation here, of a young player that had a lot of promise but misses a lot of time with injury and never looked that great after injury in college. Both just happened to play for Arkansas and are smaller guards.

Turns out he's 6'2" barefoot with a 6'6" ws and 8'2" sr. Basically Steph Curry sized. Needs to add weight though.
