So what do you all think about Jase? He's had some monster games and scores on incredible efficiency especially for a freshman.

His height is obviously an issue but his frame is super solid. Like Boswell vibes but obviously a completely / way better player.

I'm thinking his best comp is prime gary harris or maybe a little below that.

I would rather have Jase over a player like Tre Johnson who will be an erratic scorer.

Really quick release, can get into the lane and draw contact, but not really a playmaker and I don't think he is near the defender that Harris was. IDK, I could see there being some nice outlier outcomes as there can be with guards that have fantastic scoring traits and some physical strength for their frame (al la FVV, Brunson, McCain, etc.) but I just see a useful change-of-pace guard off the bench? Only seen him once, but it was a decent game (Michigan-Michigan State).

Are we looking at a 6'1 combo guard here? Is he the inverse Nikola Topic? Legit 6'3 that looks more stout because he has a short neck? Could see him measuring out with a solid wingspan.

Jase Richardson's quickness and coordination navigating tight spaces is so special. Combines it with uncanny footwork, body contortion and touch at the rim.

Needs to develop as a passer for sure, but he's going to be so freaking good.

I'm sure I'm way out on a limb here but becoming more and more convinced he's the sleeper #2 guy this class.

Hes not quick or explosive enough to make up for lack of size. Not Fox or Morant levels of athleticism.

What happens when he's defended by guys who are bigger, longer and more athletic? If he's not super quick or a deep shooter, then what? I can see some Mike Conley to his game, but he's got some real physical limitations by NBA standards.

The lottery takes are wild. The stats look good, and he can definitely shoot it, but how can you possibly play him more than 20 minutes per game? I like him in the late teens/early 20's though, as long as you know he's pretty much a bench scorer, Bones Hyland type.

I think he compares a lot to Frank Jackson as a draft prospect. But, a higher end version. Same concerns regarding positional size and game where he's more of a scoring guard. Similar efficient off-ball game and size/athleticism. Same questions about upside viability depending on if he can level up as an on-ball creator (for self & others).

Jase has created 45.5% of his own offense this season, with an assist percentage of 15%. Jackson created 54% of his own offense as a freshman on a talented Duke squad (including Tatum, Kennard, Grayson), with an assist percentage of 12.6%. Jase has 5 dunks on the season; Jackson had 4.

Do you still feel this way after his measurements? I was kind of on the same page especially with his body control but I think his height is a disqualifying event.

Big meh. So much would have to go right for him to be a good use of a 1st round pick. And he’s going to have to pass more in the pros and hasn’t really done much of that yet. Small guys, all of ‘em. but particularly non-PGs, are such a long shot. I mean, yeah, no one saw Brunson becoming Brunson, the head snap wizard with ridiculous footwork, but basing your chances of success on a true outlier isn’t the way to go.

The nicest thing I can say about Jase is that he’s clearly a better prospect than Bronny, because he can actually get his shot off and make it. But Bronny’s ceiling is a deep bench player, and Jase’s probably isn’t that much better. And Bronny can actually pass.

I actually think there is a lot of similarities between him and Jared McCain to be honest.
BPM loved both, both are undersized shooting guards that showed very little in college as lead guards.
Both were really good outside shooters.

If someone wanted to take him and that was the selling point then go for it, I was pretty low on McCain last year for most of the same reasons and that looks to be burning me.
