Danny Wolf vs Maxime Raynaud

As an ORL fan, I'm thinking of more offense k(shooting, scoring, playmaking) and rebounding (and legit size) at the C spot, even if it's implemented over the next few seasons, or just as a complement to WCJ and Moe Wagner (presuming Goga is the odd man out-trade bait). Maluach will very likely be gone before ORL at #16...I know his simple physical marvel status sounds different to the guys to be discussed, but I can't resist the idea that a guy with these kind of physical gifts and sheer size and power would be putty in coach Mosley's defensive scheme. But, again, I think he'll be gone.

The more I look into Raynaud, the more I think he's a real sleeper. Fundamentally sound, true Center height, great great head on his shoulders, very mature - even for a 4yr guy at Stanford. The Locked In Big Board podcast calling him "the most skilled big in the draft" relentlessly. They recently had an episode that was exclusively an interview with him...sounds really strong-coming out of that French National Team program- emphasizing yoga, pilates, diet, sleep, stretching...this kid seems very worldly and very intelligent but with a fire inside...NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL, but I see a Vuc comparison.

Danny Wolf also looks like a really interesting mix of size and skill. His passing, shooting, and playmaking are really appealing. Just appears to have very high-level BBIQ. Makes me think of a very large, very young Joe Ingles...again, like Raynaud, I really like the interior passing and playmaking...especially for an ORL team with two high-scoring forwards carrying the bulk of the scoring (hoping to diversify a bit-but that's another thread). Profiles say he rebounds and protects the rim well enough. I could see Wolf and Moe Wagner playing a very intelligent 2-man game from Day 1, and maybe starting down the road. ..NOWHERE NEAR THE SAME LEVEL, but I assume the comps are Jokic/Sabonis :o (put your pitchforks away)

What are the outlooks for these two? Who will be a better, more impactful NBA player? Are either of them just crafty and big enough to dominate lesser mortals at the NCAA level? Will either of them be in for a rude awakening when they encounter NBA size, strength, and speed on both ends?

Mocks are ALL over the place this year - which is fun...first, I saw ORL getting Raynaud with #46, now I'm not sure he or Wolf will be there at #16.

Thoughts on these two as NBA Centers?

I like Wolf a lot more, I think he is more mobile than Raynaud. Both will probably have some adjustment with the physicality and speed of the NBA. I have some hope that Wolf is skilled enough he can still be a functional starter or a really useful and unique backup, I would pretty easily draft him in the first round and don't see him dropping out of it (currently I have him in the early 20s, but I could see a team in the 12-20 range falling in love with his skillset). I don't think Wolf will be available at 25 - I haven't watched Raynaud enough to have a strong position on where I see his ceiling in the draft. Perhaps 25 is reasonable? I don't really think so at the moment, but after watching a few games (and with the lack of depth this class has) perhaps I'll change my mind.

I view Wolf like a Franz Wagner type and Raynaud as a Filipowski. Neither are true centers but Raynaud is closer to one. Neither will defend but should provide enough on offense to get them a decent amount of minutes. If I was in the market for a center I'd take Raynaud and try to get him stronger. If I was looking for a 4 I'd take Wolf and ask him to get sculpted to improve his lateral quickness to aid his defense. If I was the Magic I'd take Raynaud over Wolf
