If I was Philly, I would consider taking Cedric Coward at 3
Best defensive player in this draft. While Flagg and Maulach have intriguing potential on that end as well as Sorber, no one is close to NBA ready but him. He does bite too much on laterally movement but his recovery is elite. His ability to adjust to initial jump and shots are elite. He's literally a SG verison of Kawhi Leonard. He can play off the ball, on the ball, in the post, he's actually a way better passer than Leonard at this stage. He can make good post entry passes. He can shoot from every spot from 3. He's not a dynamic finisher but he has good body control in the air and does finish with finesse. The explosiveness he lacks on offense maybe due to hand grip but it doesn't impact him on defense when he's in the air. Hand grip likely plays a role why he's not as dynamic with steals either. He's a lethal post up player and he has tremendous finishing skills and touch with either hand. I don't see much mid range in his game but I believe it could come once he improves his handles to beyond rudimentary levels with more skill development.
I watched Jaylen Wells tape and was like, he looks like a NBA starter but I am not sure. Watching this kid, he looks like a good NBA starter, right now. The feel for the game is exceptional. He just gets it. I actually think his measurements play to the NBA more than college.
In my eyes, I am considering moving him to tier 3. His floor is just that damn high. I understand the idea of Ace Bailey or Edgecombe down the road but they may never be as good as Coward is right now for the NBA.

Absolutely serious. As serious as I was when I said, it wouldn't shock me if Jalen Williams is the best player in this class and of course, this was when JJ was still getting 2nd round pushes in mocks.
Coward is NBA good right now. I don't know what his upside could possibly be but when you are optimal in positional requirement, usually the sky is the limit for those guys. This is a game of inches.

Did you ever make a post on him when he was at Eastern Washington?

That doesn't concern you? You're basically saying in 6 games against:
Portland St
Bradley
Idaho
Iowa (by far his worst game)
Northern Colorado
Eastern Washington
You've decided this 21-year old is worth a #3 pick? Bold move!

Nope! Just like it didn't bother me with Williams or Podz at SC. Your game is your game

They are pushing this kid relentlessly on the broadcast. It's really weird. Why isn't he going back and getting sweet NIL money? Is he a lock first round pick all of a sudden?

I think he ends up going lotto when its all said and done. Comps really well to J Dub… doesn’t mean he will be J Dub, but nobody is going to want to pass on that type of comp after what J Dub has done in the NBA.

Ya he must have multiple 1st round promises to pass up the Duke NIL money.

Fair. I probably should have worded that as “at least one of those teams are not going to want to pass on that type of comp”… just takes one team, which i think will happen.

I don't know how this isn't obvious to you guys. He looks like a top 100 player right now when you see what he does and his measurements for a 2 guard is optimal. I seen him verticality challenge a block at the rim and he was as high at the same point I've seen John Collins at on his verticality challenges. He's a 2 guard doing what a player who's earned 100+ million as a 4 can do. Only allowing 31 fg% on the field for opponents. He's different and it looks translatable too. He's going to be better with faster pace. The NBA is more open than college Basketball but it closes quicker due to length, athleticism, and BBIQ.
Guys like him are the prime guys you want. He's very polished. I was shocked we went under the radar this long. I watch for abilities. I haven't seen anything to make me think he's not going to be an excellent rookie. Special one at that.

Because we havent seen him do that to the "power" schools in the NCAA before. If he was doing that to the UK Duke UNC MICH etc etc then we can understand it.
For every Kawhi, JWill etc etc who was " relatively" unknown and made a mark on the league, there are probably more who we didnt even know played ball.
