Redraft 2025 - who are the top 10?

Post#1 » by One_and_Done » Sat Feb 21, 2026 10:48 pm

It's very early, but sometimes it's fun to do these earlier to see who is ahead of the curve, and who is not.

My rough thoughts at this time would be:

1. Flagg (#1)
2. Harper (#2)
3. Kon (#4)
4. CMB (#9)
5. C.Bryant (#14)
6. Coward (#11)
7. VJ (#3)

People will doubtless be on me for having Carter Bryant so high, and I get why, but what I've seen is enough for me to feel he's going to be an elite 3&D guy at least, and I don't mind being early on him. I am not as much of a fan of VJs player type, and honestly I may still have him too high. For now I have Flagg over Harper or Kon.

After that it gets tough. I hate Queen's player type, even though he obviously has alot of talent. I was also torn about guys like Fears, Ace, etc. Alot of names are contesting this space for me, from Gonzalez to Demin to Tre. It doesn't help that Noa basically hasn't played either. Anyway, it's way too early picks right now.

It is too early, but if I had to rank their rookie years I would go:

1. Flagg
2. Kon
3. VJ
4. Coward
5. Harper
6. Queen
7. Murray-Boyles
8. Ace
9. Johnson
10. Fears

With that 3-6 range clustered pretty close, and the 8-10 range clustered pretty close.

I asked how they should be redrafted, not how good a rookie year they've had.

Apparently they missed the assignment or believe a little over half the season is determinative where the players should be drafted which is one way to do it I guess.

And I said it was too early for me to do that but this is how I would rank their rookie years. But we are on the draft board, I should keep in mind that it is a bit hostile lol

There's no fun redrafting if we have certainty. I am also not much moved by critiques of my list from those who are not game enough to provide their own ranking.

I am just not really swinging my ranks too dramatically based off 50 games unless that player is just massively better than I expected, for instance Kon will be a few spots higher for sure. However, I am not massively changing anything on small sample sizes, I did that last year with McCain and regret it because my initial takes on him were pretty spot on.

Carter Bryant 5th is absolutely wild and a complete homer take by...one of the most homer posters on this board.

Tiger Woods would be pleased with the par.

Harper wouldn't go ahead of Kon, VJ or a couple of others in a re-draft. He's been disappointing.

I think the top 3 would be pretty universal. Flagg, Kon, VJ.

I think most would have them in that order, but I totally get why some will have VJ over Kon.

I don't think they would be near universal. Harper is in such a different situation and I am still high on him.

No, he's looked very promising. He just has 2 borderline all-star guards in front of him.

Realistically, as I mentioned. I don't think that much changes but a few spots here and there of my list unless guys are just absolutely destroying beyond what we thought. Kon is the main update and I guess VJ to some degree but 2-8 are all really close for me.

1. Flagg (1)
2. VJ (6)
3. Kon (11)
4. Harper (2)
5. Bailey (3)
6. Queen (7)
7. Johnson (4)
8. Fears (5)
9. Kasparas (8)
10. Cedric Coward (16)

VJ moves ahead of Harper because he has shot the ball much better from both 3 and FT and still think his defense is better longterm than Harper. Kon jumps way up with his shooting being elite so far- still have concerns about the defense and how high his offensive ceiling is though where as I think VJ turns out better 2 way guy. Harper has been good, but to me he hasn't blown me away consistently. Still a believer in Bailey- just been inconsistent but plenty of flashes.

Queen, Johnson and Fears have had more typical up and down rookie years but all have major flashes.

Kasparas has been good enough to believe in him long term, elite FT% at 90% and shooting 44% from deep. Still only 19 yrs old.

Coward moves up a good bit but I still don't see him as highly as others, he is older and he has been pretty average 2nd half of the year after a fast start- pretty typical for older rookies.

It’s dangerous to compare guys based on rookie stats, however I think their per 100 numbers are worth noting.

Flagg per 100: 28/9/6 on 560 TS%

Harper per 100: 24/7/8 on 535 TS%

VJ per 100: 21/8/5 on 538 TS%

Kon per 100: 30/9/5 on 651 TS%

I also think it’s important to understand the context in which these guys are putting up these numbers. Flagg and Kon are being used as primary options, and are getting all they can eat. VJ is one of the top options on the Sixers. Harper is coming off the bench, and isn’t close to one of the top options on offense. It’s not because Harper has played badly, on the contrary he’s looked great, but he’s on the best team of any of these 4 guys by a large margin and he has 2 borderline all-star guards in front of him.

If Harper was playing for say the Mavs or Wizards, he’d be the primary option and would be putting up 25/6/8, and we’d be talking about him as a ROY candidate too. Not all guys get the same opportunities as rookies. Harden came of the bench for the Thunder for his first 3 years.

or Harper would be playing for a bad team where he is a primary option and his shooting woes would be highlighted more instead of being able to attack weaker defenders as a 3rd or 4th option. He is shooting 25% from 3 and 73% from FT, it appears to be a pretty big issue moving forward.

I also think if he were simply a star, it would have shown more by now. I get his opportunities are lesser but the cream of the crop usually rises pretty fast for rookies who see the floor. For Instance, VJ immediately became a guy for a Sixers team that had other reasonable pro scorers in Maxey, Embiid, George, McCain, Oubre, Grimes etc...

Almost all of Harpers bigger games are against terrible teams or losses. What is signature game vs a good team this year?

16 pts vs Orlando or 15 pts vs Toronto?

Can you not see how ridiculous these numbers are? So if Harper were on a bad team, he’d be putting up one of the greatest rookie guard seasons in NBA history? At least in terms of counting numbers, foregoing efficiency.

Chris Paul’s rookie year was 16/5/8.
Magic was 18/8/7.
Tyreke Evans’ ROY numbers were 20/5/6.
Luka’s ROY numbers were 21/8/6.

You can’t use per36 numbers. Playing more minutes and more minutes against starters is harder. You can’t ignore the advantages of playing on a team with better players (less attention on you by the defense, better players to pass to) and just project bigger numbers on a bad team while ignoring efficiency and potential to get double-teamed and schemed against.

Harper’s still an excellent prospect regardless. Assuming he works through his outside shooting issues, everything else is there to develop into a star in a few more years. But there is no team in the NBA he’d average 25/6/8 on unless you’re ok with him taking 30+ shots a game and being the least efficient scorer in the league. And no, not even the Wizards or Mavs would allow that.

And in a redraft, with the data we now have, there is no way he’d be picked before the guy that now looks like the next in line for best shooter in the NBA. I’d still have Harper 3rd, but a distant third, with VJ and Coward right on his heels. CMB is worth considering as well.

As for Carter Bryant, even you know that’s a ridiculous homer choice. He plays 9 minute a game, hasn’t shot very well from outside, the free throw line, or anywhere else, and hasn’t done anything else of note except not routinely get cooked on defense. He went 14th in the draft and there are 5 to 10 guys behind him that have looked better as rookies. Yuck.
