Anyone see this guy/giant against UNC last night? He is definitely the biggest human being I've seen on the basketball court -- listed at 7'7'' and 360 pounds (I swear he looks even bigger). Okay, so he can't run or really move at all, but he's averaging 5 blocks a game in 20 minutes of run. Adjusted for his minutes, he blocks about one of every four shots taken by the opposition when he's in the game - that's insane. He was swatting UNC left and right. And when he catches it in the lane (his hands appeared pretty decent, and he has some touch as witnessed by his foul shooting), it's a dunk.

I didn't see him last year at all, but looking at his minutes per game, it's clear he's been working at getting into the sort of condition where he can get up and down the floor at an acceptable pace. When he actually gets to the lane, he actually does what he does very effectively.

If nothing else, this guy needs to be in the NBA so he can be posterized every single game. Hansborough put one on him that was just ferocious/hilarious.

Anyone with his height and size warrants watching if he has even the slightest ability, and George appears to meet that test. He's very funny to watch out there.

It's hilarious watching him dunk. Guy doesn't even jump. I don't see him doing much in the NBA. He's just not mobile enough. Go check out clips of Sun Ming Ming, he's even taller.

Yeah, but Ming Ming has never played competitively at any level, so far as I know.

George's progression makes him somewhat intruiging - that's all I'm saying. He has obviously tried to get into shape, but it's not at all clear he'll ever become mobile enough to help out in the NBA. He would get nailed for defensive 3 seconds every time down the floor. Offensive too, come to think of it.

in college, he can stand in the paint on defense and be like a one man zone, in the nba he can't do that

im sure teams will give him a look, and he'll end up playing professionally somewhere if he wants to

I honestly think he will be in NBA in couple of years. If Muresan did it, why not ? Imo he moves better than Muresan and his pounds covers the whole paint!

Anyway, I think Asheville will probably win the Big South tournament and therein, George will be able to showcase what he can do against some more of the country's best.

its better, not worse, there's no illegal defense. He can just take on giant stride out to "cleanse" and then go right back under the hoop and camp.

The problem is he has not grown into his body, nor will he ever, so he cannot get the mobility you need to play.

Stop bashing the guy. Wean allagree he will get an nba tryout. I remember that topic 2 years ago about him and replied to it. Funny story, In meet him like 4 years ago at Loyola college in Chicago at a HS basketball tournament. He wasn't playing or anything he was just watching. He is enormous; but not in the pants. A teammate of mine had the displeasure of being at the urinal before he strolled in and took the stale next to his. He was way to big for the urinal and he said that his penis was like right in his face. Tiny.

His lack of mobility and the amount of time it takes him to get up and down the court is a major concern as far as moving on to the next level. I mean it takes him like 8-10 seconds to make it down to the other size of the court. Factor that into a team trying to score with a 24 second shot clock or a team trying to play D on any of the NBA running style teams and thats a huge problem.

Lack of mobility can be improved through conditioning and I doubt he's getting the highest-quality workout plan at UNC Asheville. The question, however, is whether a workout plan can be made conducive to his condition (read: size and heart) that would allow him to gain enough mobility to become just a below-average NBA player.

It's not like you'd ever burn anything other than one of the last five picks in the whole draft on Kenny George, but logistically he presents a creative challenge, right?

He will be abused at the NBA level. Hes just to big for his own good.

Hansbrough is a skilled All America on a top team. Nobody is suggesting George has any future beyond role player but if he improves his stamina and mobility he can be a guy the right coach can use
