I just now heard of this 7'8 350 pound giant that can dunk without jumping. Who is he and when is he eligable for the draft?

He is draft eligable as early as this year, but is really no prospect at this point. He is not mobile at all, often taking 10-12 seconds to get down the floor. He is tall and can block shots, but that is all he can do. He won't sniff the draft.

Even if he got down to say, 310 pounds? He doesn't need to be bulky at that size, he could just block shots/dunk all day. Imagine what Jason Kidd could turn him into.

Jason Kidd would probably fall asleep waiting for him to get back on offense.

Classic and absolutely true. Every couple of years we have these Giant stiffs who people drool all over cause of their height. Sun Ming Ming was this tall, Pavel Podkolzine was close. Both sucked and didn't even sniff an NBA floor.

Although he sucks, Pavel did actually play in the NBA. Only 6 games or so, admittedly, but he still played.

he might not get drafted but one team will probably give him a chance
he'll be stuck in the d-league

I guess if he's capable of playing in the NCAA level he could make a living playing pro in switzerland or korea or somewhere.

You think his issue is that he's overweight? How much do you think a 7'8" guy is supposed to weigh?

Can't see him losing any weight. And his speed issues isn't weight related (Shaq moved fine playing at upwards of 340), it's bone, muscle, joints related. He's just not built to move fast as most people who suffer from acromegaly or other forms of gigantism tend to be. Actually watched an interesting show on gigantism on the Discovery Channel. One thing they mentioned is that to a lot of people's surprise, "giants" are usually not near as strong as one would think they should be and it has to do with side-effects of gigantism that wears down and often prevents muscles from growing and rebuilding itself after injury. Which actually is why most giants end up being wheel chair or bed-ridden earlier than others and a leading contributor to early death.

It's scary how big he is - He would even dwarf Yao. And he's not fat - at well over 350 lbs. He's not a terrible athlete, so I think he should play college ball for a couple of years to see if he can adjust. But I think he should consider a future in pro rasslin.

Heck even if it took him ten seconds from rim to rim all ya gotta do is lob the ball to him, and he will catch it and put it in the hoop. He would only need 10 or so minutes to be affective.

I think he could get faster, but I don't think he will ever be able to play more than 20 mins a game, because that body would get tired quickly. Bottom line, I would draft him in the second round if I was a GM.

If it was that simple, Yao would average 50+ pts on 70% shooting.

And then what about when the team has to play defense? Just because a guy is tall doesn't mean he's a good NBA player. That's what makes Yao so special. :banghead:

he is big but the talent is not there. This guy is huge, but will never become an NBA player. The only reason why he may get drafted is because some team thinks they could turn him into a player, only to cut him before the season starts.

I don't think Yao can dunk without jumping, all Kenny has to do is put his arms up and drop it in there, no only that but he is 3 inches taller than Yao, if not more.
