He is so quick; he also has a very fast leap from the floor to the rim, I can see his stock rising like crazy when he gets a ton of media coverage during March Madness; true 1 Man Zone.

DeAndre Jordan is a faster 7 footer.

Jordan is faster, but Thabeet is close and has 2-3' on him.

Thabeet is not even an impact player right now in college, let alone the NBA. I like his upside but there is no team in the NBA that Thabeet starts for next year. Period.

he is definitely an impact player on DEFENSE in college

however he does need another year at the ncaa level IMO

His defensive game is already legit and impacting at the college level. The Syracuse Orange thought twice before taking to Thabeet and his 8 Blocks and X number of altered shots, they even showed a replay of Onaku getting the ball in the post; Thabeet was waiting and he passed it out quickly because he knew Thabeast was going to do something with his shot.

For the first time in the history of the the realgm NBA draft board I think Briggs might end up being right about a prospect. The stuff they were saying about his work ethic on the broadcast last night is a bit worrisome but he is young so maybe it won't be a big deal. He has made a lot of progress on the offensive end. Thats not to say he is good on that end but its a pretty noticeable improvement from last year. Also his motor overall just looked alot better than I have seen in some previous games.

Yes, he's an impact player in college, but he still needs to stay all four years. It's a difference between being a solid starter in the NBA and being a total bust. Guys like that need to play to gain feeling for the game of basketball and actually learn how to love it. Riding the pine and being a practice fodder in practice (which is exactly the situation he'd be in in the NBA) would make him hate it. He needs to play, be nurtured and develop slowly. Additional two years of Conn basketball would do wonders for him.

Thabeet is a very good player and a very good prospect, but he is like the 5th best player on his team. If he is an impact player, then Memphis has 10 of them. Maybe you guys have a different definition of impact player, but mine is a little more selective.

It was framed in a positive light but Doris Burke said that he needed to improve on his work ethic and said something to the effect that the coaches had to coax him to put in extra work after practice so he can "make millions of dollars".

It was said during a conversation about comparing him to okafor and Burke was sort of like hold on a minute Okafor was a hard worker from day one again inferring that Thabeet has to improve in that area. It wasn't like he was malignant or anything the way you sometimes hear about Beasley, just more of the thinks he is working hard but really isn't sort of criticism.

You don't have to be the best player on the team to be an impact player

What UConn player has even close to his impact on defense???

Watched the Pitt game last week. Two observations. First, he is significantly better than last year. Second, he completely changed/intimidated everyone in the paint. This guy has Motumbo potential & could easily be the first big taken after Beasley. The sky is the limit for him.

He is their best defender for sure, but Hansbrough, Beasley, Hibbert...those are impact players.
