dunk's mock draft. (03/23/07)

Post#1 » by dunkonu21 » Fri Feb 8, 2008 9:57 pm

1st Round

1. Miami - Derrick Rose (Rose and Wade is a great combo.)
2. Minnesota- DeAndre Jordan (The fit is just too perfect, Wolves have time to wait.)
3. Memphis- Michael Beasley (Memphis cream's their pants to be so lucky.)
4. Seattle- OJ Mayo (I think Sea would try and make him a PG.)
5. New York- Eric Gordon (NYK need a clutch player like this.)
6. LA Clippers - Jerryd Bayless (Kid can do everything, they don't wanna bank on Livingston.)
7. Charlotte - Kevin Love (I used to be a hater, but he has shown me he's worth it.)
8. Milwaukee - Donte Greene (Milwaukee gets a steal here and a perfect fit.)
9. Philadelphia - Darren Collison (Quick, agile, smart, great defender. If he isn't high on your board now he soon will be.)
10. Chicago

The heat won't let Beasley go IMO if they end up with the 1st pick

How is Hibbert a "good fit" in Chicago? Is that because at least Thomas, Smith, Wallace, and Noah are all under contract for next year, and three of those players are under contract for the next two? I believe they get Buddinger, a guy who can play the two-three and possibly replace/compliment Deng and Gordon.

if miami gets the # 1 pick in the lotto, you can start buying your beasley heat jerseys

core of beasley, haslem, marion, wade

and yes we will cream ourselves

Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

I don't know, but last time I checked Joe Smith is 32 and Ben Wallace is 33. Joakim could move to Power Forward. Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah do not make an impact.

One of the better mock drafts that I have seen. Switch Rose and Beasley around.

No way the Cavaliers take DJ White with some of the players you have going after him. DJ White had better be David West to be going in the first round.

Why would Miami want 3 PFs...how are you going to work that?...I just don't see Miami going Beasley unless they move one of Marion or Haslem.

DJ White is a beastly man. He will make team drool over him in the last first round. He could be a tad high, I wouldn't be surprised if he were to slide a bit, but not out of the first round.

Marion can play the 3 and you don't pass on Beasley because you have Udonis Haslem.

Think the Kings would take Lopez over Arthur. He's not a Noah-type player, either.

Marion is better at SF. he just played lots of PF in Phx because that was what they needed.

Kerr will look like a chump for trading him away.

Based on standings (03/23/07...Easter is a lame holiday)

1. Miami-Michael Beasley (concencus #1 pick for whichever team is first)
2. Seattle-Derrick Rose (Can't go wrong with this)
3. Memphis-Darrell Arthur (I am starting to agree with most that this kid looks pretty special)
4. Minnesota-DeAndre Jordan (I think he'd be perfect for the Wolves)
5. New York-O.J. Mayo (they need a Point Guard real bad)
6. LAC-Jerryd Bayless (He's a little small to be a full time SG, but the rest of their starting 5 is pretty big)
7. Milwaukee-Danilo Gallinari (Perfect fit for this team, this is the pick of the draft right here)
8. Charlotte-Brooke Lopez (OVERRATED, this is a good pick for them though)
9. Chicago-Eric Gordon (this team is such a mess, hopefully big changes will be made starting with Ben Gordon leaving town)
10. Indiana-Kevin Love (gotta go BPA here, their core is pretty solid. This also depends on who they get WHEN they trade JO)
11. New Jersey-Anthony Randolph (need some more scoring from within the three-point line)
12. Sacramento-Darren Collison (hometown guy and they need his heart)
13. Portland-Joe Alexander (He will go pro for the lottery and just barely make it)
14. Denver-Nicolas Batum (I like him over Buddinger, personally)
15. Atlanta-Hasheem Thabeet (great duo with Mr. Horford)
16. Philly-Jason Thompson (good potential build him as Dally's partner)
17. Toronto-Roy Hibbert (Hard to believe this kid thought he'd get picked top 5 this year, musta thought it was a given and forgot to work on his game)
18. Washington-Brandon Rush (they need all the possible depth they can find with the injury-prone roster)
19. Cleveland-Serge Ibaka (huge potential some scoring down-low)
20. GSW-Bill Walker (Stephen Jackson type dude, they love the athletic/versital depth)
21. Dallas-Courtney Lee (could use this guy to spread the floor a bit)
22. Utah-Nathan Jawai (perfect back-up for the outside oriented Okur)
23. Orlando-Jamont Gordon (they hope he has PG skills, otherwise he will be their future 6th man)
24. San Antonio-J.R. Giddens (they'll turn him into a stud somehow, you know how they do it)
25. Houston-DeVon Hardin (gotta back-up Yao and Mutumbo)
26. Phoenix-Lester Hudson (Good system for this kid)
27. New Orleans-Richard Hendrix (Armstrong and Simmons didn't work out and coke boy won't either)
28. LAL-Mario Chalmers (can never have enough Point Guards)
29. Detroit-Kyle Weaver (love the Defense and he brings some competition for the back-up spot)
30. Boston-Tyler Smith (Huge steal this kid is real nice)

Why are you so high on DeAndre Jordan? Yes he's built like Amare, but he can't actually play basketball. He's not even good enough to be a starter in college. Even with his allegedly high potential, I can't see him going in the top 10, never mind 4th overall. Can you explain why you like him more than Brook Lopez? Or even Hasheem Thabeet?

edit: also, no Augustin or Budinger? Do you think they won't get drafted in the first round, or that they won't declare? (both are expected to declare, aren't they?)

Just inside the top 10: I do not consider Lopez overrated at all (watch the game tape from last night) and if Charlotte got him would do great wonders for their team. Jordan MIGHT have all the potential in the world, but the fact is he still didn't even play good minutes on a decent team. And its not like someone else was blocking his path. And OJ Mayo is NOT A POINT GUARD.
