Looking purely from a defensive POV where he can rebound on both ends of the court, defend the paint and Man-to-Man defense of other PF/C....who are the top 5 Defensive Big Men coming out of College?

Obviously.....I'm asking from a Pacer POV since we have to find a Big Man that can run, rebound, block shots and do the things that JONeal doesn't do.

Thabeet has been touted as one of the obvious choices.....and probably one of the top choices given his potential......but I'm not sure who else to consider.

Most are probably going to put Jordan number 2, but I'm not including him in the top 5, because he's so raw, and he doesn't really block a lot of shots. Here goes:
1. Thabeet - far and away. There's nobody that's close to being close to being close.
2. Dorsey - probably won't be in most top 5's, but he will maul you.
3. Hardin - more talented than Dorsey, but I think Dorsey steps it up more.
4. Robin Lopez
5. Tie - take Hibbert if you go C, take DJ White for PF.

^^^Dorsey seems to be decent...but he appears undersized. Do you that his size can be used against him by bigger Scoring Big Men?

Swap Robin Lopez for Brook Lopez and I can roll with this list.

As far as understanding a system and defending the paint I think Hibbert is underrated. He also gets his blocks. Your "list" only applies to Camby and he is not in this draft. But it is a 2 man race of Thabeet and Hibbert with Hardin in 3rd. Dorsey is 6'9 and 25

I defer to you there, as I haven't seen enough to tell them apart, and Brook has done better on the defensive boards - which is part of defense.

Yes - though he did pretty much shut down Hibbert early in the season. Height is a problem, but I'm not sure there's anyone better - other than Thabeet.

I'm not so sure about Hardin anymore. Yes, he's athletic as hell but he's a 21-year old senior and still very raw. Against the Lopez brothers (NBA caliber opposition) he couldn't stay out of foul trouble. Could he manage to stay on the floor in the NBA?

Nah. Despite his size and athleticism, his timing is WAY off for blocks. Not to mention he doesn't have man defense down yet, or rotations. He also gets pushed around in the post quite a bit.

Has the tools to be a great defender (and great everything else) but his defense certainly isn't even close to top 5 yet.
