Toughest Perimiter Defender?

Post#1 » by Downtown » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:46 pm

The Seattle Supersonics are in need of a physical, hardnosed perimiter defender. As it is none of their guards can stop anyone from penetrating and the pressure is on their inside players every time.

Whether it's a combo guard, shooting guard, or combo shooting guard/small forward, which players coming up in the draft best suits their needs?

They own the Suns pick but with four second round picks and an asset or two they could trade up a bit.

Good call. Weaver's name is one that keeps popping up on various Sonics boards.

I think there's a very good reason that primarily Seattle-based fans are excited about Weaver. As they say in real estate, location, location, location. I've posted this before but I will reiterate my opinion that in terms of pro-potential Weaver = Julius Hodge.

I would much rather snag a guy like Brandon Rush, who could have potentially been a Top 10 pick if he came out two years ago.

Not to mention that our perimeter defender problems may be solved with our #1. IMO Rose or Mayo solves this immediately, and Bayless is not as far behind as people like to think.

Why not try to sign Bobby Jones. He keeps getting looks but just hasn't found his team yet.

If you're looking for someone on the second round - Demarcus Nelson.

Your opinion......I have mine and it is that OJ has the physical tools to become a lock down defender in the league and his defensive versatility (PG,SG,SF) is only matched by Weaver IMO

Terrance Williams from Louisville. He's a Seattle native too, iirc.

He's raw, but I think he can be an amazing NBA defender.
