Chase Budinger will be better than Mike Miller?

Post#1 » by guaves13 » Wed Mar 5, 2008 8:24 pm

A source close to David Thorpe has said that Chase Budinger could end up being better than Mike Miller. Also that Kevin O'Neil's system has been less than ideal for his talents.

I would be surprised if he didn't come out this summer. Anybody have any thoughts?

I think Chase will declare. He's not gonna improve his stock significantly by staying, and should be a late lotto/mid 1st rounder.

But why is he being compared to Mike Miller? Chase is nowhere near the shooter that Miller is (very pedestrian 48% fg and 37% 3pt), and Miller isn't the athlete Chase is. And Miller's a nice player, but being better then Miller isn't anything eye popping either.

I think the point was that Chase has the 3pt stroke to develop into a high % 3pt shooter. I think you are shortchanging MM. A team like the Suns would love to have a young MM with more upside. This is the late lotto we are talking about. Talent starts to thin there.

How can Arizona's record be as bad as it i. They are way too talented to be losing that much.

Nic Wise's injury killed them. He doesn't have eye popping stats but he let Bayless play off the ball, which is where he should be. Lost 5 out of 7 since Wise's injury, and now Arizona is barely hanging on IMO to a tournament birth despite their high RPI.

It doesn't matter what Bayless needs to do in the NBA. Arizona is best when he's off the point and concentrating on his strength, which is scoring, rather then trying to get other people involved.

I like Budinger. I dont like Kevin O'Neill (and neither do most guys who have played for him). I think a Budinger/Miller comparison is actually pretty good. I am not sure if Chase will get there, but that seems like a reasonable goal for him to be sure.
