Minnesota has (what should be) the first 2 picks of the second round.
Our owner has stated that we are only looking to bring 2 rookies into camp. Either using one of the picks for a euro to stash or trading the picks for a first rd pick.
What teams are in the 1st rd that would rather have 2 non-guarenteed contract rookies rather than a guarenteed 1st rd pick?
And to make it interesting MN also has the very large expiring contract of Shimmy Walker.
Just curious what the draft gurus see if anything.

The logic with it is if a team does not want a guarenteed contract. It makes sense under that situation. Being that the wolves picks (right now 31 and 32) have a bit of value.
The walker factor (expiring contract) is just something extra to add.

Has anybody ever traded 2 2nds for a 1st? I can't remember it ever happening. It might be a little different since we could be talking about the first two picks of the 2nd round in this instance, but I still don't give it that great a shot of happening.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Value of draft picks in the 20's plummet imo. Not necessarily because the talent is so much less, but because those teams cant use the players very well to prove their value. Its hard playing that new rookie when you are in the playoff hunt and have a pretty locked rotation.
Teams in the bubble range 10-20 probably get the most use out of their #1's since they aren't developed enough to not play young players, and are still searching for new parts. These teams also have roster spot issues so making 1 player into 2 players doesnt necessarily hold any value for them. The D-League could help this a bit by giving these players some development time, but unlikely imo as those teams probably would still lack roster spots. Although they could go 1 prospect state side, stash 1 in euro. Which could be a very good move as they probably get\receive\expect the same talent and production from the 20+ or 31st pick and still get to see if a euro ends up producing.
As for Walker...only team that looks in the position to do anything like that is Denver for KMart? But clearly we dont need any of that madness...
