Aleks Maric?

I'm going to get the embarrassing part out of the way first. I uploaded my draft class from College Hoops 2K8 to NBA 2K8 and guess who pops up as the #2 overall pick in the 08 draft? Aleks Maric!! Huh? I've never heard of this guy.

So I did a little research and (going off of stats) he doesn't look too bad. He has good size and puts up all the right numbers in all the right places. Yet NBADraft.net, DraftExpress and ESPN do not have him anywhere on their radars.

So, anyone from Nebraska care to tell me why this guy isn't NBA material?

I haven't seen a great deal of him and being Australian I obviously think he's the next Kareem, but I'd say athleticism has a fair bit to do with it. He doesn't look overly quick or agile, and I suppose dominating on an average (I think, am open to being corrected) team would work against him. I hope someone picks him up regardless, at the very least he'd be a pretty decent 2nd/3rd string big man.

He's a good player. I think he will make it in the league. Definitely not a starter but a very serviceable backup C. He doesn't do anything spectacularly well, but he doesn't really have any major weaknesses either.

Maric is the classic college center who is skilled but not athletic. He may hang around the NBA for a while, but he will be nothing more than a backup big man at best.
