Davon Jefferson

He's someone who could raise his stock SIGNIFICANTLY if he played well vs Michael Beasley on Thursday.

Remember how Hibbert skyrocketed his stock going head to head with Oden?

Jefferson may have the same opportunity going up against the #1 prospect.

I've never seen anyone really mention this kid. What's his pro prospectus?

an extremely unrefined basketball player but has the potential to be a physical monster with his elite athleticism and very promisnig frame

needs at least another year of college

Jefferson really doesn't strike me as physically gifted or an athletic beast (which is what Beasley is). He's kinda a tweener forward (not fast enough nor have enough perimeter skills to be a SF and not strong enough nor in possession of a back to the basket game to be a PF in the NBA). Sure there's been kinda tweenerish guys that have made it (i.e. Marvin Williams) but he really hasn't shown (and hasn't had the opportunity to show) what he can do so who knows. As far as Jefferson going off on Beasley and/or keeping Beasley down...I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Jefferson is a freak athlete, with little to no fundamentals. He's barely been coached thus far in his career. He is about as physically gifted as they come, and if he follows the scouting report and stays focused for every minute he's on the floor, could absolutely give Beasley problems with his length and athleticism.

Don't see it. Maybe he's been overshadowed by his teammates often ball hogging ways but of the 4 USC games I've watched Jefferson's "athletic freakishness" hasn't stood out at all. Fundamentally unsound I'll agree with most definitely though that's also kinda hard to tell with Tim Floyd's free for all system over at USC.

Staying focused is a huge IF for a guy like Jefferson....I see him getting into foul trouble and becoming frustrated relatively quickly against a player just as physically gifted, yet fundamentally sound & intelligent, in Beasley......with that said, I still see USC winning this game

His lack of ball skills really slow him down, chances are that is what is affecting your view of him......If he had a fluid handle, he would be far easier to judge for the athlete that he is.....I thought he was not that great of an athlete until I saw in person, he is an athletic stud but at the same time I somewhat agree with you in that he is best projected as a tweener BUT in a good way....he can guard most 3's and then once he adds the muscle/weight that his frame suggests will easily come, he can guard some 4's as well (although this is talking purely about physical capabilities because he lacks a great deal of defensive polish when it comes to technique and discipline).....but the big kicker is the ball skills when it comes to his offense and also IMO he needs to shorten his release/form on his jumper, far too many phases with him dropping the ball down to his shoulder

as of now though, the one positive I keep noticing is some surprising Bball IQ in his off the ball positioning in order to create passing lanes and subsequent easy baskets at the rim

another note

he is also less than effecient in his movements (possibly still some coordination development left to go) and this makes his athleticism seem somewhat sloppier than it is........not sure if what I am saying is making any sense to anyone but me, and his handle only makes this worse
