Lawson/Augustine

Post#1 » by longfellow44 » Wed Mar 19, 2008 5:44 am

Who will have the better pro-career.

Augustine reminds me a lot of devin harris not sure why just something about him and, Lawson reminds me of a T.J. Ford. I really hope that both of these guys have great pro careers.

I think D.J. will have the better career, but what if you add Collison to this list?

DJ by a long shot.

Better decision maker. Better shooter.

Augustin, but I'd take Collison over both.

Augustin, but I can't say I really see the Devin Harris comparison.

Augustin, in a land slide over Lawson. Lawson might just be the next great UNC PG flameout (Williams, Cota, Felton). Collison though, he is neck and neck with DJ.

Just curious, what do you think separtes Collison and Lawson so much? I'll take Lawson over Collison, but Augustin over both. Why do you feel is he so much better adapted for the pros then Lawson is?

Size. Collison is the best defender of the three. Two straight final fours showing his leadership. Collison is also a better shooter.

His ability in the Pick&Roll makes me favor this side as well.....and I have serious doubts regarding the consistency and NBA range on Darren's jump shot

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm high on both Augustine and Lawson. I used to be high on Collison until I realized how little explosivness the guy has. Collison will be a very solid half court PG, he is a very steady player I just don't see him as the kind of guy that runs the offense on a championship team (in the nba) .

Augustine also seems like a really great player but again i'm just not sure if he will still be able to finish at the basket at the next level. how ever even though he is short he has a very sturdy frame and may be able to muscle his way in.

Lawson intrigues me simply because of his speed and his ability to drive and dish. I think he will still be a one man fast break in the NBA thats just how fast he is.

The overriding answer, if you're dealing with trying to find the starting PG for a NBA championship caliber team, is none of the above..........the closest is DJ but I would still look else where first (wait another draft, FA's, etc)

While at the same time, I really am starting to think that Collison would make an excellent backup on a NBA championship caliber team.....nice change of pace option and pressuring defender

DJ will be solid for the simple fact that he knows how to run a team, but I don't know if he'll be anything spectacular. Meanwhile, Ty Lawson hasn't reached his high expectations coming out of high school. I still think he possesses standout NBA skills over Augustin besides shooting, so I'll go with him.

DJ will be a really nice PG for someone. He can run an offense, he has great court vision, he's a great shooter and he's got a lot of quickness also. Lawson is a little quicker but not enough to make up for how much better Augustin is at shooting IMO.

To be honest Collison reminds me of Bobby Jackson a little bit, except he's not as explosive and he's more of a half court guy I think.
