Teams moving their pick for tax relief...

Post#1 » by corwin » Fri Mar 21, 2008 10:41 am

Teams are usually reluctant to move first rounders but they're equally reluctant to pay the luxury tax. I'm just curious about which teams who are above/close to the tax threshold might get rid of their pick & a player (like Phoenix last year) to avoid the tax.

I don't see any, I doubt Phoenix moves out of the top 11 seeing how old they are and a couple of those teams (LA Lakers and Dallas) that could be options but traded picks already.

Possibly Washington, but only if Etan Thomas were packaged with the pick for a second rounder in a few years.

He's owed $14 million over the next two years. That seems like too much money for a 15-18 draft pick.
