I just don't get the Thabeet love, his hands are awful, cannot create offense and needs everything on put backs and lobs. Too big a project IMO to go to a potential playoff team. My thought is he falls behind Hardin, Hickson, etc-more proven bigs.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record, but Jordan at 4th would be a big mistake. This guy needs to go back to college to have any kind of shot at reaching his potential.

i have a hard time seeing the spurs taking a big at all. with duncan, oberto, bonner, and mahinmi on the roster, splitter likely coming over, and with the possibility of thomas being back, that doesnt leave a lot of room for players up front. there are more pressing needs at the wings and back-up pg. and if players like collison and rush are still on the board, then id think thats where the spurs would be looking.

if a front court player was the target, id think they might look for someone that they could easily stash oversees. looking at this particular mock, asik would be a fit if thats the route the spurs wanted to go.

Dude? With JRich and Matt Carroll already on the roster, young and getting paid quite well?

Me thinks that the Bobcats wouldn't have Gordon any where on their radar.

Matt Carroll is no reason not to take a player.

Detroit isn't taking a PF either - they'll take the best center or SF on the board.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

Ya, because what you want is your 3rd string SG sitting on the pine and getting paid $5 mil a year for the next 5 years!!!

So everyone locked into a bad deal is reason to not draft the best player available?

I don't understand how Thabeet wouldn't be the perfect fit for the Suns at 11. Given there is little to no chance they actually keep the pick.

1. I think Jordan goes before Lopez (NBA teams love "upside").
2. Westbrook is too low.
3. Randolph is too low.
4. Thabeet is too high.
5. I dont think Galinari will go quite that high.
6. McGee is too high.
Those are all my opinions of course, and the only ones I feel extremely confident about are that Westbrook and Randolph are too low. Good mock though, you put a lot of thought into these things Cammo.

haha I laughed when I saw the camera go to Jordan when he was on the bench late in the UCLA game and thought to myself how this guy who doesnt even get burn late in games will go top 5 in the nba draft.

amazing.

It sure is.

I think the real indictment comes from the fact that we don't have waves of draftniks on here calling for Turgeon's head for not playing the guy. It is very obvious to everybody watching the Aggies regularly this year that Jordan ISN'T ready to be on the court over several of his teammates.

This guy can't go top 5...I've never seen something like that happen, and I don't believe I ever will.

I don't see that it is any different from drafting unproven Euro's who are averaging like 4 and 2 in Europe. That has happened multiple times, and some of the times it was a success. Obviously, no one is taking the guy to start next year, but his upside is pretty apparent. Upside is what guys are drafted on. It is why Marvin Williams was picked ahead of Sean May. One was an unproven athlete, the other the national player of the year.

Sure, but people say that every year. People see a bunch of guys they are familiar with who are big time players in college, say that the draft is unbelievably deep.....but then reality hits, and at least half those guys don't even crack their NBA teams' rotation or contribute anything worthwhile.

Just take last year's draft for example. People were proclaiming it to be on the level of the 96 and 03 drafts.....but look at the results of it so far, you have maybe 10-15 guys who are even playing any kind of role for their teams, and less than five(I'd say) who are major contributers. Yeah, there is obviously still time for improvement......but still, I think people overrate most drafts and especially the value of draft picks(how many times do you really see mid-late first rounders actually come in and play big roles for playoff/contending teams right away?)....

Marvin Williams, the obvious standout on a national championship team, is comparable to DeAndre Jordan, the guy who can't get clock on a bubble team?

Sorry, just not seeing that.

And as for the Euro's, I can only think of a couple of complete unprovens taken in the Top 5 (well, maybe only 1 - Darko was way more proven than Jordan), and they all turned out to be disasters.

I think Jordan and Darko are simular as far as situation goes. Darko was not much more proven than Jordan, considering Darko never even played in an upper tier league in Europe. I wasn't implying that Marvin Williams was as raw as Jordan, just using the Williams/May situation to show that upside always trumps production. Darko, Skita, Sene, Korolev are all guys off the top of my head taken with lottery picks who were every bit as unproven as Jordan is.

IMHO

Arthur too high
Thabeet too high
Padgett too low
at Kansas Id take Jackson before Kaun

Missing ....

Duncan at X
Rhodes at Miss St.
Townes at Ark

and if Im looking for a project at big Varnado from Miss St. possibly to an established team with time to develope him. I dont follow the European players so I cant say whether any of the above should take their place in the lineup.
