My first Mock

Post#1 » by longfellow44 » Wed Apr 2, 2008 6:16 pm

1. Rose
2. Beasley
3. B. Lopez
4. Mayo
5. Love
6. Bayless
7. Gordon
8. Jordan
9. Gallanari
10. McGee
11. Griffin
12. Randolph
13. Westbrook
14. Augustine
15. Collison
16. Buddinger
17. Batum
18. Arthur
19. Greene
20. R Lopez
21. J Thompson
22. Thabeet
23. Lawson
24. Hansbrough
25. Smith
26. Young
27. Hendrix
28. CD Roberts
29. Hardin
30. Rush

I did this mock without thinking about which team is picking where and what that teams needs are. So this is more like a top 30 board.

Not bad at all, unconventional top 5, but I actually sort of agree. No Joe Alexander in the first round though? He's already pretty decent, is improving a lot from year, and apparently has an unbelievable work ethic.
Also, nobody seems to have Bill Walker in the 1st round, but even with the injury concerns, I think he's worth a look. He's a seriously aggressive and explosive player.

Misread the first time... as a big board I have more issues with it.

Why is Love ranked so high? Clearly you are putting substantial weight in their body of work in college, so Psycho T and CDR would have to be higher. I just don't see Love having a super high ceiling, so I can only assume you're basing it college performance.

Also, McGee in the top 10 with Thabeet at 22 puzzles me.

Depends on who's drafting at what spot.

Kevin Love in the top 5 doesn't make a whole lot of sense, no matter who is drafting.

I think people overlook Love a lot. I can see a team liking him enough to take him in the top 5. Does depend on the team though

I don't know will see when teams start doing individual workouts... you can't just go on Mock drafts on the internet

Fact is, Love is 19 years old and one of the best ball players in the country playing for one of the top programs in the country. Sheldan Williams got drafted fifth, Love could easily get drafted fifth

I look at love and what I see is Zach Randolph with a brain and a motor.
He's not the right fit for everyone but I think he will be a Huge force in the NBA. He will still need a defensive C next to him to reach his full potential but I think the sky is the limit for him ( if he really wants it).

As for the total mock i do consider it a mock draft, I just didn't take into account any team needs.

1 Miami Beasley
2 Seattle Rose
3 Memphis Lopez
4 Minnesota Mayo
5 New York Bayless
6 L.A. Clippers Gordon
7 Milwaukee Griffin
8 Charlotte Love
9 Chicago Jordan
10 Indiana Augustine
11 New Jersey Gallanari
13 Sacramento McGee
14 Portland Randolph

this is my best guess just based on the lottery teams only. Because team needs truly influence where a player will be drafted.

If Love was half the athlete Zach is, he actually would be a top 5 pick. But, he isn't, so he will have to settle with falling in the 10-15 range.

Good mock though.

Name one lottery team that takes him at 5 based on their needs and how you have him scouted?

This is unbelievable to me.

^^I think that if Memphis falls to 5 and lopez was already taken they would consider Love. He would bring alot to that team. If the bobcats move up to 5 I think that they would still consider picking Love at 5 they needs some post offense in the worst way not to mention love would look amazing next to okafor.

I just don't see Memphis taking him at 5.

Assuming they slipped to 5 and everyone else moved up 1 spot, the draft would probably go like this.

1 Miami- Michael Beasley
2 Seattle- Mr. Rose
3 Minnesota- Jerryd Bayless
4 New York- OJ Mayo
5 Memphis- Blake Griffin would make more sense than love here.

I'm still confused if you're basing this on college performance or upside, because if you take into account upside DeAndre Jordan, McGee, and others would make more sense at 5 then Love.

Minnesota would definitely take B.Lopez over Bayless.
