Finallists for the Knux-Future Larry O'Bannon trophy 2008

Post#1 » by Mik317 » Sat Apr 5, 2008 11:20 pm

It's that time of year and I've narrowed down the winners for these pretigeous ( or jinxy) award.

Past Winners are:
Larry O'Bannon
Sean Dockery
D.J. StrawBerry
Rodney Carney
Zabian Dowdell

hey 2 for five aint that bad, right?

The award is given to the player I latch on to as the steal of the draft. It usually is a senior who is often forgotten underneath the kids with POTENSHUL or overated teammates ( Cough Fransico Garcia Cough).

HERE IS THIS YEAR FINALISTS.

J.R. Giddens
6"5 Guard/Forward
New Mexico
Image

Strengths: Jumps out of the frecken Buidling, Is named JR, Can rebound and shoot, Should've beaten Lebron in the high-shcool dunk contest, Former McDonalds all-american.

Weakneses: Was/Is a giant douchebag( atleast at Kansas), Is named JR ( JR smith makes coach Karl wish he was dead sometimes and Jr Rider......Nuff said.) Probally Undersized.

Nba Comparison good: Desmond mason with a Jumpshot.
Nba Comparison bad: Antione Wright.

Stats: 16.5 pts, 3.1 asts, 8.8 reb, 1.2 blks, 1.4 stls

Why he is up for this award?: IMO Giddens has turned it around from high levels of douchegbaggery. I've alawys like his game, he can do it all. He's fast, strong, can shoot, can jump and can fill multiple roles on a team.

Patrick Ewing, Jr.
6"9 Foward
Georgetown
Image

Strenghts: He's the god damn son of Patrick Ewing, Can jump, creates havoc on both sides of the ball, good hands, can rebound, play defense.

Weaknesses: He the son of Patrick Ewing and isn't great......., Offense? We talkin about Offense?

Nba Good: an Athletic Reggie Evans with some type of stroke?
Nba Bad: name a failure tweener........yep that would be him.

Stats: 6.1 pts 4.2 reb 2.1 asts..........yeah.

Why?: I think he has potential to be a much better pro than and collgiant.......plus he Patrick Ewings son.........he'll get some looks.

Shan Foster
6"5 Guard
Vanderbilt
Image

Strenghts: Dis Mayne Can shoot dat Bauh!!!!! Pretty athletic. Can score in bunches. Looks like Usher.....da Girls love dem some Usher.

Weaknesses: doesn't do much else great does he?

stats: 20.8 pts, 4.2 rebs 46% for the 3.

Nba Good: Broke dudes Ray Allen.
nba Bad: Derrick Byars.

Why?: I watched him singlehandedly own the crap out of Tennesee...that was awesome. The man can shoot it's a good chance that he'll be in the league for a while just because of that.

Courtney Lee
6"5 Guard
Western Kentucky
Image

Strenghts: Can shoot it very well, played really well in the Ncaa, has a nba body, can score the ball. Can be the man or just a 2nd/3rd option.

Weaknesses: Tyrone Brazzleton looked like the best player on that team........, plays for western kenucky.....yep.

Stats: 20.1 pts, 4.2 rebs 2.1 ats.

NBA good: Michael Redd
Nba Bad: Willay Green

Why: He will be drafted because the man can score, he's kinda in the same boat as Morris Almond was last year but just like Foster if you can shoot you will make it plus he can actualy create for himself. I think the Hornets take him.

Guys who just missed it:
Jason Richards
Richard Roby
Sonny Weems
Joey Dorsey.

This year I have no clue......so I'm going to let you guys decide. when you vote please leave a comment.

Only you can decide who wins this presitgeous award. so go do your civic duty and vote. Poll ends at the end of the month

You should add Jamont Gordon. He's rated as a second rounder, and probably will enter w/o an agent, but he's got great size and skills as a pg. Not a real quick player, but held his own against Rose and company, while every other pg (Neitzel, DJ, Collison) have struggled mightily in the tournament against Memphis.

it's a joke guys.....In fact I'm technically 1-3 in picking guys who get drafted. The TRUE winners of this award are O'Bannon, Dockery, and Strawberry. I added Carney to make me look better in picking seniors to get drafted and make teams. way to make me look bad.

but in all seriousness The winner of this "award" is just guys I will be doing in-depth analysis of during the draft. becuase These are guys who you will hear nothing about and I don't think that fair. so VOTE and you might create another DJ Strawberry......yeah.

Thats only four sleepers, Carney being a mid first round pick and all isn't a sleeper, and the the other four are not just good players. Strawberry might be the only one with a shot, buts it to early to call him a successful sleeper pick because of such limited playing time. And the other three were awful in terms of being prospects. I wouldn't go bragging about these guys.

And dude, Larry O'Bannon, whom I loved, was a 6'4" SF/PF in college. There is no way he was ever going to make it in the NBA. His wingspan and reach were both below Jarret Jack -- that can't cut it as a F.

If T. Williams declares and stays in the draft, he's probably the best candidate for this sort of award. I think he'll be a much better pro than college player.

Since I don't know who any of those guys are (Except Ewing, and what I know won' get him my vote) I'll write in Dorsey, one of the honerable mention candidates.

He's going to be like Big Ben, but with a bad jumper and lousy FT shooting- so I guess I'm saying he's going to be Big Ben.

I actually think he will be a good energy/role player. Maybe a G.O.A.T. who can also block shots and maybe finish better around the rim. Definitely worth a second round pick. He will never master the 18 foot fade away or 10 ft running hook like Evans, but maybe he will actually be able to put in a layup on a consistent basis.
