Thabeet Remains in UConn

Post#1 » by deanx » Sun Apr 27, 2008 9:56 pm

ESPN -
Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet will return to school for his junior year, according to a report on ESPN.com.

He was projected as a first-round pick by most analysts, and was listed as the 25th pick in RealGM.com's most-recent 2008 Mock Draft.

"As a team, we took a step in the right direction this year, but I look forward to us working together to win a Big East Championship and making a run at a national championship," Thabeet said in a statement released Sunday by UConn. "I really enjoy being here, getting a great education and spending time with my friends and teammates."

it has been confirmed that he'll stay for another year

Excellent choice, if he works hard on improving his post moves, man d and rebounding he can absolutely be a lottery pick.

Great for him and the Uconn program. With Ater Majok now commited to Uconn, and Kmeba Walker coming in, and with all of our players from last year returning, I think we are gonna be a very good team next year. Thabeet will improve his game, and it will reflect in his draft stock being that Uconn should do better in the NCAA Tournament with him returning and with improved players and maturing upper classmen.

Very good choice by Hasheem Thabet, I think he should use all four years of college in my opinion. He will get the chance to develop as an offensive player at the college level where in the pros its doubtful he'd ever get the touches to develop an offensive game.

If he waits and does all four years at Uconn he has a chance to go #1 in the 2010 Draft.
