Blake Griffin will be as good as Michael Beasley?

I think Blake Griffin has a chance to be a dominant player at some point.. he is very athletic, plays great defense, rebounds the basketball, very karl malone like.. he handles it really well and is a team guy 100% .. what do you guys think.. Beasley is the better player now.. does Griffin have the tools to be a similar player to Beasley in the future?

I've seen them both a bunch in the big 12...

I don't think Griffin is at the same talent level as Beasley. Griffin is starting to get a little overrated. He doesn't have a single attribute that is better than Beasley. (I'm thinking the Beasley character complaints are overblown)

I agree that he has a chance to be better. Bigger frame, Stronger, better rebounding skills, and more consistet defensive effort. I think he can be an average mans Tim Duncan. Beasley seems a little too passive for me.

Beasley is a better talent. He does a lot more things well. Griffin is more of a bruiser. It is kind of like comparing Amare to Boozer.

Beasley can play the 3 which Griffin cannot do

he's also a much better shooter but Griffin is far from
overrated he dominated alot of games this year
using his outstanding block work, quite reminiscent
of Boozer. Beasley tho is jus too versatile & them
character complaints are bull

Of the few games I've watched of Griffin (have seen plenty of Beasley) I would say nope. Similar players? Not really. What makes Beasley extremely appealing isn't his athleticism or strength, nor his rebounding, nor his shooting, nor his ability to create with either hand, nor his plethora of unstoppable moves in the post, it's the naturalness and instinctual ease with which he goes about doing all of that as well as the air about him that says "this guy is a star". Don't see that in Griffin even if he's built like a linebacker, has nice athleticism, rebounds and is more of a choir boy than Beasley. Doesn't mean he won't but not IMHO will he. I can most definitely see Beasley having the type-A personality and will-to-dominate that all stars (and better) players in the NBA has (the intangible part of the equation). Dont' know that the same can be said of Griffin who may have an extremely nince package of skills and athleticism/strength ratio. IMHO, the tangibles is what makes a player a very good NBA player but it's the intangibles (that 'it' factor) that makes a player great. You need the tangibles obviously but very few players have the intangibles that I believe Beasley has and don't know if Griffin does.

I remember watching him in the tournament . And walked away unimpressed . This guy is just another raw athelete

How can Beasley even be compared to Griffin. Nothing against Blake, he has good potential, but Beasley showed elite NBA offensive skills as a freshman in college. If Blake has the ability to get better, than I'd think Beasley would too.

Beasley's ability right now is way ahead of Griffin, and I'd expect it to stay that way.

Sure anything is possible but no way does Griffin compare in terms of potential.

Beasley is a much bigger threat offensively with his ability to shoot outside the paint and slash to the basket.

He is also mature beyond his years with his post skills.

IMO Griffin's going to be a better post-up player in the nba. He has the frame and skills to force double teams down low, and is a good passer. I don't see that in Beasley, who while he may have more overall talent, is primarily going to be a faceup player at the next level IMO.

Have you watched him play a game?

Beasley's post skills are his most advanced attribute.

I have watched virtually every one, yes. I have game tape of every single game Michael Beasley played last year. I will disagree with your assertion that it is his most advanced attribute. At this point, if you force Beasley to go over his left shoulder, he can be forced into bad shots. If you double team him, he can be turnover prone. I will disagree even moreso that it carries over to the pro's as well as his faceup game.

Beasley actually only took 27% of his attempts from post-up opportunities.

I'm not saying Beasley's a bad post up player, or that he won't have success there in the pro's. I just think Griffin has the chance to have the better post game in the pro's, and will most certainly be the better passer out of the post in the pro's.
