How good can he be?
I've never heard about him really.. I read up on him and he had some off-court problems early but he seems to have turned it around and from some youtube videos.. he has mad hops

How good do you think he can be in the nba?

I would love the Wolves to use a pick on him in the early 2nd. He's got potential if he's behavioral problems are done. Think Trevor Ariza cept shorter.

A talented prospect, I think he could be a good defender, the question is will he accept that role and the playing time coming and going?

Looks to be a high second rounder. Maybe his stock will climb after the pre-draft camps? I never heard much about the guy since he played in New Mexico (where?). Reading about him and the fact that he was a Macdonalds all American does color my view (in a good way). The Sonics need a shooting guard, I hope they look at him. He has insane rebounding numbers for a SG (8.8 ).

The most impressive thing - statistically - is his field goal percentage increase. But Hollinger's formula also points out that rebounding at one's position is a very telling stat -- it demonstrates that a player knows how to use their athleticism.

His game seems to be maturing and he has the body to step in and contribute. I would imagine his stock will only rise.

Would not shock me to see a team fall in love with this kid and take him in the late 1st.....he is what I call a 'compartmental player' in that he can do X then Y but not X+Y (might be confusing to some...other examples include Deron Washington, Weems & Walker) and that is the only thing preventing him from being a late 1st

I like him... he's flown under the radar ever since transferring out of KU. I think Seattle can scoop him in the second round. Gives them another athletic versatile wing to run with for their system.

I do think the Sonics will take him maybe even with their late first. My explanation? He's from Oklahoma City.

This guy can flat out play the game of basketball. His three point shot is still somewhat of a question mark. However, he has improved his consistency in this area and learned to go to his strengths. Giddens has tremendous athleticism and is a great rebounder for his size. Not only that, he can be dominant when attacking the basket. I would not be surprised to see him slip into the first round or in the early second. He can really play and should be a workout wonder- we'll see how he fairs against some of the younger talents.

Giddens was a pretty highly touted draft prospect several years ago, but then his issues at Kansas and subsequent transfer to New Mexico just killed his value. But over the last couple years he's really matured and improved his game.

He shared the MWC Player of the Year with Lee Cummard of BYU, but I thought he was clearly the best player in the conference this year. A veteran presence on the floor, the best scorer and overall the best rebounder in the conference. And he's still got his tremendous athletic ability.

I expect him to be gone by about 35, and I'll be kind of surprised if he doesn't get taken in the late first, assuming nothing goes wrong in workouts.

He's gone from a prima donna to consistent, hard-working team player. He'll absolutely be a contributor with that attitude and his natural ability.

I live in New Mexico and he has matured a lot just from last year. I think he will be a huge sleeper pick. Falls in love with the 3 pt shot a bit. Has insane athleticism and is very under rated defensively and a great rebounder. But never got coverage being from NM. Even here it was hard to see him play on TV.

What are the chances of him becoming an allstar? or perenial allstar

^^ I suppose it's possible, but I'd say the odds are maybe 5%. I would more expect him to be a decent starter/great bench player.

i really cant figure out how his 3 point shot has fallen off so badly since he was a freshman at KU even before he transferred his second yr looked like a downgrade. However the kid has the physical tools

Can he dribble?

^^ I'd say his handle is roughly average for a wing in the NBA. He handled the ball quite a bit at UNM and was pretty efficient at it.

edit-- Take a look at those rebounding numbers. 27.6% defensive rebounding, 12th in the nation, as a 6'5 SG. He's a beast on the boards!

I like the comparison, I think Hughes could be as high as he goes, but not very likely. Then again, he could turn out to be a second round steal for someone.
