Marreese Speights...UNDER THE RADAR!

Post#1 » by yunggunz » Mon May 12, 2008 8:40 pm

I was wondering if any Florida fans can clue me in to how Speights hhas flown under the radar so much. It doesnt make any sense to me how guys like Koufos, Hibbert and DeAndre Jordon are so much higher touted. IMO Speights will compete with Lopez as the best big from this draft.

15/8/1.5 blocks in only 24 mpg. His per 40 numbers are outstanding, he has a great frame and is a solid athlete. I just cant see how he isnt up there in the lottery talk or how Hibbert or Koufos can possibly be picked ahead of him.

Hibbert isn't ahead of him.....he is neck and neck with Koufos at the moment in the mid to upper teens

Where? Draft express has him at 21 and NBADraft doesn't have him at all (but then again, that NBADraft)

He will undoubtedly move higher up after workouts.

yea i think he is going to go in the top 12 after workouts
but if he slips to 16 i cant see how Philly passes him up...he is exactly what we need.

DX updated profile of Speights.....

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Mar ... ghts-1183/

They compare him to Al Jefferson... that seems to be a bit exaggerated...

Thoughts on who he compares to? (I never really saw him play)

NBA Draft.net still shows Speights in their '09 mock.

All it takes is for one team to fall in love with a player.. I have a feeling Speights could go in the teens.

It may be a tad high but I have a feeling that Speights will go #9 to Chicago, as he fills their desperate need of a big power forward who can score. I mean if Lopez can go 3-6 then Speights can go 9-14.

To me, Thompson has a better frame and is slightly more refined......but Speights' explosiveness helps him in the eyes of some

If the Pacers don't get Love or Westbrook....I would hope that we go for Spreights. From most of what I have read about him...he appears to be one of the better NBA-Ready Big Men in the draft. There maybe several Big Men that have more potential and therefore may go higher....but IMHO, the Pacers need a Big Man that can contribute ASAP.

I don't see Speights lasting pass the Kings at 12 unless there is some major reachage in the lottery that allows someone else(like Russell Westbrook) to drop to 12...then I'd see the Warriors nabbing Speights at 14 soon thereafter.

I want Indy to take him at #11. His college production, his age, his body, his athleticism....I think he's got star written all over him.

What's the highest you think he'll go?

With Chicago moving up to #1 I bet at least one of Westbrook or Augustin falls to Sacramento...which would be great since I really want Speights on the Warriors.
