Just read the article on here that said Minnesota could be leaning toward trading one of these picks. Who could be interested in getting one of these picks? I was thinking Atlanta might look to get into the draft since they have no picks or D'Antoni could try and get some more young players for the Knicks to fit his new system

There's been some talk from San Antonio posters about trading their first straight up for the 31st pick. Basically, they would be picking a guy in the second with fairly equivalent talent as anyone they would get in the first, but they wouldn't have to deal with a guaranteed contract and they could possibly stash them in Europe for a few years.

It's funny because us Wolves fans already knew about this for months now. You know it's a slow day in news when RealGM has a report on old Wolves information. ;P

I'm predicting we keep the pick and go for an international big like Riek, Jawai, or Tomic.

How does it make sense to trade one of the 2nd round picks for a similar pick next year?.

Given that the Wolves owe the Pistons a 2nd rounder either this year or next year if they really don't want one of the picks they might as well give it to Detroit to pay off the debt and keep their own 2nd rounder next year which is just as likely to be as high as any other pick they are likely to get.

TWolves fancy they'll be much better next year and don't want to reward the Pistons with #34 for Ronald freakin' Dupree.

If makes financial sense if you can get $$$ plus a similar pick next year. Wolves did that two years ago, trading the second rounder that became Bobby Jones for cash and a future second rounder, which became Chris Richard.

I'm not quite sure that talk is what you think it is. I made a suggestion of #34 and #31 for #26 and possibly one or both of #47 & #56. I don't think the Spurs would make a #31 for #26 trade... The reasoning is that the T-wolves are running out of roster spots for their young talent and expected FA spending. Rather than get 2 seconds would become FA's when they didn't make it in training camp, they could go Euro with a 1st, and get the player locked in at the rookie scale, rather than having to pay market value with 2nd round picks. Similarly, the Spurs might look for that sort of trade with Portland as well...

There has been some rumblings in Brazil that Splitter has been offered a big offer from Pau which would be significant considering that rookies are locked into a pay scale for two years. I am not sure if you can stash players with a 1st round pick anymore.

The US currency aint worth **** in euro no more, that lies the problem.

Another problem is the rookie contract is much less then what a good player at his age will be getting in europe.

europe contracts are mainly after tax, and there tax rate is low compared to what foreigns have to pay in USA, dont forget the incentives also in euro like cars + transportation cost, a house...extra.
