With all the Derrick Rose ball licking we've seen the past few months, has Michael Beasley become underrated?

26/12 as a freshman. Some have said he's a SF in the NBA, but he's listed at 6'10", 235 lb. with plenty of room to develop physically. He's as big as Amare Stoudemire.

Still a top-2 pick. If that's underrated, I'll take it.

Agreed. This was just brought up on our board the other day. There is a reason why Beasly was the unanimous number one for the entire year.

yeah, hes just not talked about. I didnt know who he was half the year...never seen any of his college games. oj mayo and beasley were more talked about.

just with the way pg's like Paul and Williams are running teams i just think pg's are a little more important than sf/pf u can get every year

agreed, and thats the big arguement for Rose as #1. Nobody knows if Beasley is the next Melo, Sheed, ZBo or Amare. He is going to produce in the NBA no doubt, but it is unseen if he is going to be the type of player who can lead a team to championships. When you look at the top 8 PGs in the NBA, they are all on playoff teams and it is no coincidence:

In no particular order: Paul, Deron, Nash, Iverson, Billups, Parker, Arenas, Baron, Kidd

Each of those PGs has the ability to take a team to the playoffs and lead a team to a championship. Most people think Rose will join those guys and be one of the elite PGs in a class above the Andre Millers, Kirk Hinrichs, and TJ Fords who are very solid starting PGs.

Kidd was on a non-playoff team until the deadline, Arenas barely played and was no part of his team's success at all this year, and Baron did not make the playoffs, so that argument is pretty weak.

But I do agree that in theory, a franchise PG is more important than a franchise combo forward, especially when the PG plays great defense, and the combo forward plays poor defense. To me the Rose/Beasley comparison is very similar to a comparison of Deron/Amare - most teams would take Deron, but some would prefer Amare.

well Deron is at home right now becuase his PF didnt step up...

Every single team left in the playoffs has a very good frontcourt/backcourt duo. So i dont necessarily agree that a PG is more important.

Lakers - Kobe-Gasol
Hornets - Paul/West
Spurs - Parker/Duncan
Pistons - Billups/Rasheed
Celtics - Pierce/Garnett

I think someone like the Heat should draft Beasley since they already have Wade....same with the Grizzlies, have a Conley/Beasley duo.

Twolves should go with Rose to team up with Jefferson. Same with the Clippers, have Rose complement that Brand/Kaman frontcourt.

You need to have a good guard, and yes the fact he got 26-12 and was the consensus number one going into the tourney then Rose has a great tourney and all of the sudden we forget about just how good Beasley was.

Here is who should take Beasley: Miami, Memphis, Chicago, Golden State, New Jersey, Charlotte, Milwaukee

Here is who should take Rose: Minnesota, Seattle, New York, LA Clippers, Portland

Toss Up: Indiana, Sacramento

Yes he's gotten very under rated. People are calling him undersized to play PF in the NBA. When he's the same size as Al Horford, a better rebounder and scorer than Horford too.
He needs to refine his footwork though, imagine if he actually develops a go to move...

Although the Grizzlies should take Beasley with the #1 pick (big if, I know) because he's a better fit and they drafted Conley last year, they'd be stupid not to take Rose.

Rose owns Memphis with his stint with the Tigers this year and would instantly be a fan favorite.

Yes he has but it is not his fault,it is just that the recent success of Deron,Paul, and Tony has made people forget about Beasley and keep thinking about Rose.Also can someone explain to me hoe mock drafts change so much after the NCAA season is over?

I'm not sure I agree on Chicago. I think a lineup of Rose, Gordon, Deng, Thomas/Gooden and Noah would be pretty devastating in the East.
