Post Lottery First RD Mock

1.) Chicago- PG Derrick Rose Memphis. They take the hometown kid and then look to do some maneuvering.

2.) Miami- PF Michael Beasley Kansas State. Absolutely satisfies DWade which in turn satisfies Stern. Beasley will be a beast in this league.

3.) Minnesota- C Brook Lopez Stanford. Allows Jefferson to play PF, both should average double-doubles at some point together.

4.) Seattle- PG Jerryd Bayless Arizona. Perhaps an iffy pick as he is not a pure PG, but he is a PG who can come in and average 15 and 5 next to Durant right now.

5.) Memphis- PF Kevin Love UCLA. I saw this pick in other mock drafts and the more I thout about it, the more it made a lot of sense. Perfect to lineup next to Gay, he will succeed in this league.

6.) New York- SG OJ Mayo USC. Not exactly ideal for D'Antoni, but he'll make it work. This will probably hurt Mayo's chances at stardom but he should be solid.

7.) LA Clippers- SG Eric Gordon Indiana. Can play behind Mobley for a bit before eventually moving into the starting lineup. The Clippers begin to produce another collection of talent young players.

8.) Milwaukee- G Russell Westbrook UCLA. Milwaukee is absolutely solid on paper with most roster spots being occupied by young players. Some seem to think Redd may eventually be on the move, so this is with that in mind. Redd, Mo, Sessions, Bell and Mason all may or may not be back, so the combo guard Westbrook may have to sit and learn for a while.

9.) Charlotte- C DeAndre Jordan Texas A&M. Wont start from day one with Larry Brown at the helm but with a resigned Okafor can grow into a formidable duo if MJ forces Larry to get this kid on the floor. Bobcats are another team looking solid on paper with all these young players.

10.)New Jersey- SF Danillo Gallinari Italy. Highly unlikely he goes this low, but with the way this mock plays out thats where he goes. With NJ's wing players always rumored to be on the move he could be thrust into playing time sooner rather than later.

11.) Indiana- PG DJ Augustin Texas. At #11 you dont expect to find a franchise PG, but he should at the very least amount to be Jameer Nelson. The Jamaal Tinsley era has to end at some point.

12.) Sacramento- PF Darrell Arthur Kansas. A legit PF due to his length, playing time may be hard to come by for a while but with mediocre talent at the 4 spot, once Arthur does get the playing time he wont relinquish it.

13.) Portland- SF Anthony Randolph LSU. Another team stacked with young talent although their young wing players haven't proven to be much so maybe more of a wing player would make sense. However with the way this mock played out, they get a slipping SF/potential PF that is full of potential.

14.) Golden State- SF Nicholas Batum France. Will likely have to sit much like Wright and Belinelli last year but this kid has talent, he wil eventually get his playing time. Pietrus leaving would be ideal nor not only him but Belinelli too.

15.) Phoenix- SF Joe Alexander West Virginia. A NBA read player who many seem to think has reached his ceiling. I have watched him extensively and know he will get better in this league. There won't be much of a drop off if he replaced Hill in the starting lineup in a year.

16.) Philadelphia- C Jevale McGee Nevada. They are certainly stacked with wingmen and have the most underrated leader in the league at the 1 so they take McGee. He could be a solid backup potentially making Dalembert expendable.

17.) Toronto- C Kosta Koufos Ohio State. I give my most hated team in the league one of the drafts biggest question marks, but he is someone that could fit perfectly with them.

18.) Washington- SG Chase Budinger Arizona. Has more potential star power than Young, McGuire and Mason so they add him with their potentially departing and/or consistently injured stars in mind.

19.) Cleveland- PG Ty Lawson UNC. West is more of a combo guard and while Lawson lacks ideal size he is more of a true PG.

20.) Denver- C Roy Hibbert Georgetown. Camby, Martin and Nene are always hurt and one ore more could be on the move. At #20 you wouldnt expect to find someone this NBA ready but he is and will make an immediate impact. His draft stock was hurt by going back to school.

21.) New Jersey- SG Chris Douglas Robers Memphis. A scorer. Someone who will be used immediately off the bench.

22.) Orlando- SF Donte Green Syracuse. Green might be regretting his decision to enter but if he can establish himself behind Lewis and Hedu he will be in line for a much larger contract down the road. Playing behind Lewis should help his game.

23.) Utah- C Robin Lopez Stanford. For the second time they end up with the "worse" of the twins out of Stanford but they got years of acceptable production out of Jarron, the same will happen with Robin.

24.) Seattle- PF Jason Thompson Rider. This was almost a dream scenario for Seattle as Thompson fell this far. He'll provide depth off the bench from day one and could one day work his way into the starting lineup.

25.) Houston- C Nathan Jawai Austrailia. Perhaps a bit of a reach? But the potential is there and with that much potential in someone at a position where they could use a backup, they can't pass down the opportunity.

26.) San Antonio- SG Brandon Rush Kansas. A team that is known as winners adds another one. Should be interesting to see how soon e can work his way into this old...oops I mean "experienced" rotation.

27.) New Orleans- SG Bill Walker Kansas State. I personally think Walker should go back to school, but we'll see if that happens. Another player full of potential who should emerge into a backup. With him and Julian Wright backing up their starting wings they will have a very athletic second unit.

28.) Memphis- Nikola Pekovic Serbia. A unique big man from Europe. When he comes over to the U.S he will make more of an impact than many European mistakes from the past.

29.) Detroit- PG Mario Chalmers Kansas- With Maxiell and Amir Johnson I can't see them bringing in another young big even at #29. Chalmers will eventually emerge as the backup PG while Stuckey moves permanently off the ball.

30.) Boston- SG Shan Foster Vanderbilt. With the FAs on their bench he can make an impact from day one. Instant offense off the bench from an experienced collegiate player. He may be groomed to be the Starting SG of the future.

Pretty good for the most part. Chalmers is probably a little too high and Love and Anthony Randolph should be switched in my opinion. Other than that it looks a lot like my mock draft

Pretty good overall. I'd want the Cavs to take CDR over Lawson, but that's just me.

No way in the world the Cavaliers take Lawson with more pressing needs at SG and PF.

Lawson isnt going to make Sasha Pavlovic and Ben Wallace not stink.

-Speights is someone I see going back to school. Another year at Florida with Lucas and Calathes would only help his stock. They'll make a bit of a tourney run next season without him and be a Final 4 contender with him. I dont have him in my mock because I think he should return to school. If he definitely stays in I would certainly have him in my first but it would not surprise me to see him take a Chris Taft like fall.

- I definitely thought about CDR for the Cavs but ended up giving them Lawson, I knew that would likely be my most scrutinized pick. West will definitely be back as the starting PG next year but he is more of a SG, he belongs there so I gave them the next best PG in the draft. I dont know if Boobie will be back, I can see him departing for more guaranteed minutes elsewhere which is another reason I gave them the pure PG. Within a year Lawson/West/James would be their starters.

-Minnesota fans seem to want Mayo. Does that mean their is a lack of trust in Foye and/or McCants? Or that there is a great deal of trust in Jefferson as a center? I think lining up a 7 footer with the skilset of Lopez next to Jefferson would only better Al's game and make it easier for Lopez to transition into the league.

Wolves are likely taking Mayo, they need a playmaking/scoring wing almost as much as they need a center. And the fact that he is represented by BDA makes it almost a sure thing.

Minnesota fans think Foye and Mayo would be an amazing fit together. Mayo can defend shooting guards and split the point guard duties with Randy Foye.

Gibson is restricted and no team is going to use their cap room on him anyway. He doesnt have any leverage and knows where his bread is buttered.

The Cavaliers dont see West as a starting SG and a 2nd tier prospect like Lawson doesnt solve their holes at PF and SG.

I'm from Massachusetts meaning I have followed both the Celtics and the Atlantic 10 (Umass and St. Joes hail from there). I have seen West play this entire decade and trust me when I say he is better off as a SG than as a full time PG. I love that you said the bolded part because nor do I. I think West is best suited as a combo guard 6th man. If he were the first man off the bench for a championship team it would not surprise me one bit. He can best be described as a "piece to the puzzle" (this is the exact same way I label Ryan Gomes former Celtic and PC alumn), not as a star on a championship team.

You also said Lawson doesn't solve the Cavs problems. Well I dont think that anyone at #19 will, not this year at least. Lawson is still improving and is a legit PG something that West, Boobie and Damon Jones arent.

Would it surprise me to see them take CDR and start West/CDR/Lebron by the end of the year? Not one bit. That lineup won't fair any better than this year though. But without the pure PG or a dominating low post presence it's one step closer to bye bye Lebron - if Boozer didn't stiff the Cavs, I think Lebron would have a title by now.

I think the Cavs need a true PG, but Lawson isn't it.
